Palin Resigns to Accept Post as Lunatic Laureate

I'll try to be brief. People should do whatever they choose. Get married, get divorced. Run for office, resign from office. Volunteer to clean up a highway, run screaming naked down the street. Have your fun, baby, and don't let no one keep you from it.

What people should not do is have their fun, all the while insisting they're doing it for someone else's benefit.

Deep within her rambling and disjointed "announcement" Friday morning, Sarah Palin stated that she's not going to seek reelection as Governor of Alaska. Then, she went on to say she'll be leaving office before her term is up because serving out the term she was elected to serve wouldn't be best for the people who voted her in. In other words, I'm leaving you -- but only because it's the best thing I can do for you.

It's easy to criticize, I know. But today I feel qualified. Because this is the identical excuse I gave to every girlfriend I broke up with in my twenties and thirties. I don't think many of them fell for it back then. I know they've all wised up since.

The question on my mind today is, how many of Sarah's millions of admirers will feel flattered by her most recent selfless and beneficent decision?

You can fool all of the people some of the time.

And you can fool some of the people all of the time.

And you can fool some of the people all of the time.

And you can fool some of the people all of the time...

Oh they'll embrace her and declare her a martyr and a saint.

You have to remember the base she attracts. And I do mean base. They are gun toting religious fanatics - and by that I don't mean people who are deeply religious. In their practice of Christianity, Christ himself is but a footnote. If he walked up to their pulpit and repeated the Sermon on the Mount just for them, they'd declare him a socialist and a Godless man who needs to get right with the Lord. I'm not kidding. lol.......They are fanatics and they are for the most part not very bright. (It's a sort of litmus test for me. I'm Independent so I'm glad to talk with a conservative if they have a point of view. But if I say "what do you think of Sarah Palin" and they begin to gush? I'm done. They're not worth the time.

So they'll embrace her and hug her and cry over her and laud her and wine her and dine her. She is more than a politician to them. She's a deity.

They're not all fanatics. Most of my family is Conservative and they will still find ways to defend Bush. I don't think they understand what the job entails. I don't think they have ever been around any real heavyweights, and they think everything is as easy as their own lives.

I thought that position was already taken by Limbaugh.
