Eve Gittelson graduated from Barnard College (Columbia University), where she majored in Economics. She is a highly-regarded, extremely popular blogger, known as nyceve. Her essays appear regularly on the Daily Kos recommended list. Eve writes most often about health policy and access to health care.

When the giant health insurer CIGNA refused to authorize a liver transplant for Nataline Sarkisyan, a critically ill teenager in California, Eve began to mobilize an outpouring of citizen rage which forced the insurer to reverse its decision. Sadly, it was too late for the surgery and Nataline died.

Eve has immersed herself in the intricacies of the healthcare crisis. She volunteers to work with an oncologist at a hospital in Manhattan, assisting him and his patients in obtaining hard-won insurance company approvals for treatments and medications. Nothing like hands on experience. In 2007, Eve was the moderator and organizer of the health policy panel at YearlyKos.

Not incidentally, she’s completing a first-novel—a take-no-prisoners rampage through the world of high-end New York City real estate and conspicuous consumption.

Eve is a life-long resident of the West Side of Manhattan.
