Prop 8 Upheld By Courts, Gay Rights Advocates Plan Protests

The California Supreme Court upheld the controversial Prop 8 ban on gay marriage today in a 6-1 ruling. Gay rights activists, who had held out hope that the courts would rule that the law contradicted California's constitution, have planned protests across the country to express their outrage.

Those supporting Prop 8 threatened to have the CA Supreme Court Justices recalled if they overturned Prop 8. Why are we not doing everything in our power to get the names of these justices out there and petitions immediately started to RECALL THE CALIFORNIA SIX!

6-1... six-to-one!!!
Americas' OK except when it goes against what you want. Twice!

Honestly, nobody really cares what your sexual preference is. There are real issues out there... get over yourselves!

you know that's so easy when your rights have not been taken away. when you have not been treated as a second class citizen.
Did the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's stop after the first or second time a black was made to sit at the back of the bus, or drink from a different water fountain, or go to seperate schools, or not allowed to marry someone of a different color? I don't think so.
I bet you weren't there telling the Black Activists to "get over yourselves"!
I see, it so much easier to control with power those you feel you can beat up on and bully.
My guess is you were probably the same way in school. How proud you must be of yourself and your children.

Thank you Obama for your lousy lack of spine and or just plain homophobia. Your words of "fiece" advocacy of Gay rights mean less than nothing except to those who were on the line about voting for Prop H-8, those you gave a perfect excuse to by your own negating of marriage for Gays so those voters felt good, proper and validated by voting for Prop H-8. Come 2012, go back to Chicago to your politicians there who speak out of both sides of their mouth and tell one lie after another.

Obama is to blame for the decision of California Supreme Court?
Have a daiquiri and a chill pill.

Obama is to blame for the passage of Prop 8. His well-timed robocall stating marriage is between a man and a woman let his supporters know how to vote. If he came out strongly in favor of gay marriage, he still would have won and gays would be treated equally in CA. He could have then gone on to keep his campaign promise of repealing DOMA and he would go down in history as a true leader on civil rights along with others like eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. Now he will be just another loser Democrat like Clinton.

I'll be heading out to the Santa Ana, CA courthouse gathering this evening:-)

Those of us who support the right of 2 consenting adults to marry whom they please will not end until the final battle. Believe me when I say this is certainly NOT the last word. I am filled with a calm and happy certitude that we will win out in the struggle to extend marriage to our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters. Hang tough and help to fight the good fight.

Calm? You should be enraged and not just with republicans but the deomocratic establishment. DADT, DOMA, still on the books too when this president could have at least suspended DADT and hasn't. If I was in Southern CA I'd be in front to the hotel where Obama is speaking to garner monies for the democratic party and protesting his misreable talk of change.
