Ever since her debut album Call Off the Search hit the shelves in 2003, Georgian-British singer-songwriter Katie Melua has enjoyed a great deal of success. Now on her seventh album, In Winter, Melua decided to get rid of some of the pressure that accompanies success. With newfound creative freedom, after parting ways with long-time collaborator Mike Batt, Melua started to explore and try new things. "I didn't want to make music that had lots of eyes on it. Certain parts of work require time and quiet careful work and this has to happen behind closed doors. It was important not to have pressure and not to think the album has to sell a lot of records."
