When did it become okay to discriminate? What country are we all living in anyway? I thought this was America, am I wrong?
Wake up folks before it's too late! This country was founded on the premise of separation of church & state. And why do you suppose that was? Because back in the day of our forefathers, (ya know, the dudes who fought and died for our freedoms) life under an oppressive British empire was more than they could take.
Living in a "my way or the highway" nation sucked! Dictation, Denial and Discrimination was the name of the game until our founding fathers decided that they'd had it!
"Let freedom ring!", they shouted. And a HUGE part of that freedom was of course separation of church and state. If you are truly an American, (and not some closeted fascist) you are part of the privileged few on the planet who get to live in a country that supports tolerance of diversity. Heck we celebrate it! We can be who we want to be, pray to whomever we choose to pray and live as equals regardless of gender, race, creed or sexual orientation.
To think that in this upcoming election there is actually a proposition to add an amendment to the California Constitution to legalize discrimination! Shame on us! This proposition is not about gay marriage; it's about hate, discrimination and intolerance of diversity. It is wholesale, unadulterated hate-mongering and it MUST be snuffed out in a dramatic fashion at once to illustrate to those behind it that in America we embrace the neighbor who might be different from us and are proud of it!
So to all you TRUE Americans, get out there and vote on November 4th, and let's reject hate.
Get all your friends, co-workers and relatives to vote too and make sure you vote NO on proposition 8.
Freedom Fighter,
Fran Drescher

I agree with everything you say. I donated to the campaign and live in PA (used to live in CA).
You are very missed, Fran, Very much missed.
I don't know what happened to my previous comment.
The Mormon church has become a large part of the hate-fest in California and I think they will regret it.
People who value equality and civil rights will not quickly forget. After the election, a movement should be started to question the tax-exempt status of the very political Mormons.
Fran,
I could'nt agree more! I just do not understand all the bigotry in our country. It is truly shameful.
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind want to discriminate against love? Especially the Mormon church? Don't they have a lot of people prejudiced against them too?
Seperation of church and state. That was one of the most brilliant aspects of our constitution. Sadly, Bushie and his boys and the reichwing class don't know anything about the constitution. And if they did, they would not care.
Thankfully, we won't have them to push all of us around much longer.
Remember John Lennon's song, "Power to the People"? Maybe it will finally happen.
And Fran, when some right-winger says you're just another empty Hollywood liberal, remind them that it was actors and actresses who opposed the persecution of Jews probably more than other group during Hitler's reign of terror---and who suffered and were killed as a result.
Thank you Fran! you are priceless.
I live in PA but I did donate $$$$ to this campaign. I echo EVERYTHING you say.
BTW - you are missed - seriously really missed.
Thank You for supporting Californians!
iI couldn't have been said better than this.
Thank you Ms. Drescher.
Thank you for your voice Fran. As a gay man who has been voting for 35 years now, I cannot believe that 35 years on that this is even an issue anymore. It is disgusting and morally wrong. This whole business about marrying sisters, brothers, dogs and animals is absolutely ridiculous, yet there are a few million people who run around shouting this at the top of their lungs.
All of this persecution and condemnation most assuredly is a form of projection. Sometimes I think that this group of individuals are actually latent homosexuals themselves. This type of personality just seems to want to hate and will find something to hate whether is is gays or something else.
It is way past time for Americans to transcend this fear and anomosity.
thanks fran! i went out to breakfast with my partner this morning in palm desert, ca. we were snickered at, talked about and stared at. this did not happen prior to this proposition. it is disgusting. we are inviting an increase in hate crimes and condoning discrimination. locally, we are taking it to the streets today and hitting as many corners as we can to spread No on HATE! the fact that it is being bank rolled by the mormon church is horrific. we cannot allow churches to dictate laws and amend our constitution. NO on 8!!!!!!!!!
Nor can we allow any group to dictate laws and amend our constitution. Any group can push their agenda but there are always consequences to actions. You are either up to the fight or not, you have to decide what you are willing to fight for and what price are you willing to pay.
The opposing side have strong beliefs just as you do. In a democracy we have a process where this can be resolved the people have spoken on this issue several times and you didn't like the answer. So here we are again, and that is your right but to lower the discussion to the level of hate is simplistic and silly. It cheapens the democratic process, and fails to address the concerns that people opposed to this measure have.
