Frank Carlson is a print and broadcast reporter and photographer based in Chicago. Born and raised in Knoxville, Tenn., he is a graduate student at the Medill School of Journalism, where he covers economics and business but also environmental issues and immigrant communities. Before starting his studies at Medill, Carlson traveled extensively in Asia, Latin America and Europe and lived and worked in Beijing. He is now working for the Carnegie-Knight News21 Initiative and will return to complete his studies this fall in Washington, D.C.
