Is Mike Huckabee Nuts?

What's Your Reaction:

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee wants to turn the United States back over to God and Jesus.

Huckabee actually said this in a just released 60 second commercial for Lou Engle's "The Call."

In the spot Huckabee says, "Fast and pray and turn this nation back to God, as Jesus is our only hope." He goes on to tell everyone to go to Sacramento and fast and pray for the sanctity of marriage over Labor Day Weekend.

Governor Huckabee should know that the Constitution is very clear about the separation of Church and State.

Take a look at the commercial; it's unbelievable: Click Here

The event titled, "What Can Wash away our Sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus" is put on by controversial Pastor Lou Engle. There is a slick web site: Click Here

On the site, Engle is hawking "Season Tickets" for the event and gives a very passionate pitch for money: Click Here

Uganda's Treatment of Gays and Lesbians

Two months ago, Pastor Engle again traveled to Uganda, where an Anti-Homosexuality bill is being considered. It calls for life in prison or death for gays and lesbians.

Does the current front-runner in the Iowa Caucus polls for 2012 agree with Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Bill calling for the death penalty for gays and lesbians?

Mike Huckabee should not continue to gay bash

It was just a couple of months ago that Governor Huckabee compared gay marriage to incest, drug abuse and polygamy. He went on to say that gay and lesbian couples should not be allowed to parent, because kids aren't puppies. I wrote a strong response to those hateful remarks for the Huffington Post: Click Here

Mike Huckabee's continued cruel statements about LGBT Americans are insensitive and dumb. He owes all fair-minded Americans an apology.

OK secular progressives - time to make alliance with the pro-GLBT FAITH communities that abound but are kept in our own kind of closet! We're the best force between Huckabee and Engle and you. We can talk to the wobbly middle - the people who don't hate but who are unsure about faith issues since all THEY hear is the right wing, too. We could have saved NO on 8, but the secular supporters of NO on 8 said the faith community "has nothing to say". Well yes we do - we support civil marriage as a scriptural issue of justice. We support the blessings of all the world on all the world's people, NO exceptions. We can talk the talk and we walk the walk. Stop shutting us out - we're your new BFF if you'd only pay attention. And we equal or surpass the buffoons in numbers. So what are YOU afraid of? We don't care about your soul (not too sure about our own) so let's join forces NOW against Engle, Huckabee, and all the other merchants of hate.

His name is Huckabee and he's never changed it.

That should answer your 'nuts' question.

He also said this: "... watching ducks land on a lake in Arkansas in the winter is about the closest to Heaven as you can find on this earth... and as someone who believes, according to my faith, I will go to Heaven when I die, I am pretty sure that there is duck hunting in Heaven!" In other words, as a theologian, he believes there are firearms and violent death in the kingdom of God.

Yes, he is nuts.

Gay-bashing is de rigueur for right-wing Christian fundamentalists and evangelicals, which stems, I believe, from their fear and loathing of sexuality. Certainly they favor violence over sex, much as they favor fear over hope, intolerance over acceptance, exclusion over inclusion, paranoia over trust, and "us" over "them."

I'm a gay man --- seven kids, all adults, biological, adopted and fostered. Most days, I forget which are which, they've been in my life so long.
Huckabee's snotty remark comparing my kids to puppies --- poop on HIM! There are days that it might have been easier to raise puppies (actually, I prefer cats). But then my kids do something that make me proukd of them or something kind --- one of my sons came over this weekend and cooked a meal, just for me, because for some reason he thought I deserved it --- and I well up with tears of gratitude that I blessed with the opportunity to be a parent.

Huckabee is not crazy. He's just a basically mean-spirited politician, catering to a constituency of like-minded people. He has ambitions for higher office. In response to that, I would like to offer, for consideration, some dialogue from the 1939 civil war film epic "Gone with the Wind":

Scarlett (Vivien Leigh): Fiddle-dee-dee! Ashley told me he likes to see a girl with a healthy appetite!
Mammy (Hattie MCDaniel): What gentlemen says and what they thinks is two diffrent things, and I ain't noticed Mr. Ashley askin' for to marry you

Let's paraphrase that a bit:

Mike Huckabee: Fiddle-dee-dee! The voters told me they like to see a candidate who doesn't support gay rights!
Mammy: What the voters says and what they thinks are two different things, and I ain't noticed no one electin' you president.

Love it, Jdaddy! You've made me laugh and made my day! I too think he is just a mean-spirited typical homohater. And poop on him for comparing your kids to puppies, too!

Well, my daughter might not mind --- she and her husband live in a home with their four kids and their four pit bulls!

Thanks for the kind words and for supporting poop on Mike Huckabee. (Sounds sort of like a Facebook website.)

Ever? Oh, my! Child, you need to get out more, but thank you for the kind words.

I think we should get back to laws based on sound biblical principles.

Let's repeal the 20th amendment, because chicks need to be quiet (1 Timothy 2:12).

Let's repeal the 13th amendment, because slavery is A-OK (Ephesians 6:5-6).

Amen.

Let's repeal the First amendment freedom of religion, because of the first commandment.

Precisely! The hard core wants to adopt nothing BUT Biblical directives - for someone other than themselves. When was the last time a Christian celebrated Jubilee and forgave debt? How many wear fabrics of mixed fibers? That cotton polyester will get you every time. Dietary laws? Circumcision? Not harvesting to the edge of your land to permit gleaning? Fixed prices and standards set by the community to protect those in need? And as you all know - they have little regard for honoring the sanctity of their own marriages, so where are the stonings for adultery? When was the last time they obeyed ANY of the "inerrant laws" that might apply to themselves? As for the TV evangelists - they alone should be stoned for all the gold they wear against their skin. Nope - "laws" are the things that apply to YOU, not to them. One born again woman ripped off a foul suggestion to those she did not like, and when the "unchurched" gasped in mock horror that such a statement was very unChristian, she said, "I'm born again. I can do anything I want." Must be convenient - kinda like Huckabee and guns in heaven.

We need to keep calling them out. They are hypocrites of the first magnitude.
