The Watchdog for Gay Equality

?>

We are deeply disappointed with today's majority decision issued by the California Supreme Court. As the county moves forward on gay and lesbian equality, our Supreme Court took a giant step backwards.

One year ago the California Supreme Court showed great courage and conviction in recognizing equal protection for all. Now we must regain marriage equality, and immediately go back on the ballot to repeal Proposition 8.

Next year we will win back our rights.

Until that time, Californians Against Hate will continue to closely watch all who oppose our civil rights. We will be a watchdog for our community.

We will carefully monitor and take action against those who bully us and spend vast sums of money against us. Individuals and organizations who give millions of dollars to deny our full civil rights will be held accountable.

Over the last 10 years, our opponents have beaten us at the ballot box in 30 out of 30 states. Now we are aggressively fighting back. Same-sex marriage is now legal in 5 states, and more will follow soon, including California.

During the next election cycle, Californians Against Hate will closely scrutinize our opponents, carefully review their campaign reports and make sure that all who oppose our civil rights are abiding by California Election Law. All major donors must disclose their full financial support be it monetary or non-monetary. Owners and principals of businesses must fully comply with the law. No hiding behind spouses or listing false occupations and information when reporting contributions. We will be watching very carefully.

We have also begun looking into the principal organizations and their leaders who qualified and funded Proposition 8. These include the National Organization for Marriage, Focus on the Family and the American Family Association They continually spend millions of dollars to try and prevent us from full equality.

We live in a country that was founded with the express belief that "all men and women are created equal." We will fight for that inalienable right so that future generations never, ever have to experience discrimination.

Community Choice vs Individual Freedom-Who Should Prevail

When a community of people can no longer allow the prevailing values of the majority it often disintegrates and falls into an abyss of chaos and death.....

On the otherhand when an individual can not practice their individual values it will more than likely face a few choices.....confrom through repression, move to a more favorable community that embraces his or her values, or confront the community at the risk of his or her own peril....

A successful community will retain its core values..and California our largest state and community has the right to choose its core values....

Warm regards,

Successful communities still choose slavery and criminalization of different religions as core values. You're free to move to Saudi Arabia or Niger..... for starters I am sure we cancome up with a long list of communities that meet your........standards.

IApples and Oranges or ZeitGeist?

Fluid social change can only materialize if two circumstances are met. One, the human value system, which consists of our understandings and beliefs, must be updated and changed through education and thoughtful introspection. Two, the environment surrounding that value system must change to support the new world view. The interaction between a person's value system and their environment is what influences human behavior....the education and assimilation of a new value structure can only through the willful participation of the community..it can not be forced or it will never last..

What kind of crime do you call it when the minority ( in this case less than 20% of the population is gay) can force its values and will on the majority? Would I be allowed as the only heterosexual in a Gay bar be allowed to dictate the behavior of the majority in it because it was in my best interest to do so?

Warm regards,

Michael Winters

"Next year we will win back our rights." - I realize you say this with optimism, but it sickens me to refer to my already DUE civil rights as something I need to "win", "lose", and/or "win back".

WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA?

The GLBTQ community owes America nothing, taxes and all. It is disgusting that in 2009 gays are being treated as social lepers legally. I can deal with social discrimination, but not legal. We owe nothing.

I agree. I do not need anyone blessing or approval to know who I am but I will not accept second class status. I am as decent ,as moral as anyone, and I am sick of the ignorance and prejudice in this society in the 21 st century. what a bad move backwards california made today.
