Doug Holtz-Eakin, a senior economic advisor to John McCain's 2008 presidential bid, took what was ostensibly an intra-party stab at the Bush Administration on a conference call with reporters this afternoon. Speaking on the topic of Senator McCain and social security, Holtz-Eakin claimed that a substantive plan to secure the future of the vital program was "something that has suffered not from an analytical shortfall, but from a shortfall of political smarts and leadership." This is not Holtz-Eakin's first attempt to distance McCain from the partisan economic policies of the sitting GOP president, a notable tendency considering the Arizona "maverick" Senator's consistent trend toward adopting more traditionally conservative positions.

"analytical shortfall, a shortfall of political smarts and leadership"
yup, that pretty much sums up the past 8 years in a nutshell
LOL. McCain's advisor has quite a challenge on his hands...trying to distance McCain from a man he keeps agreeing with on every issue!
Can't distance yourself when your sneaking into a private fund raiser with the President, now can you! You can't distance yourself when video's keep surfaceing with Mccain saying he agree's completely with the Presidents policy's now can you. the old man flip flops so much that you can't keep up with from day to day what policy he say's he agrees with and what he don't, and change his mind the next day with. It's all confuseing, you don't know where Mr. Mccains stands on what!
