As early as 5:15 this morning, voters lined up outside polling stations from coast to coast. Check out the slide show below to see photos HuffPost's OffTheBus members snapped of the lines in Missouri, Virginia, Pennsylvania, California and New York, to name a few. Got photos of your polling station? Size them to 550 x 400 and send them to campaigntrail@huffingtonpost.com.

I voted by absentee ballott. My ballott didn't list the name of my party's candidates for P & VP OTUS. I wrote in the names of my party's candidates for P & VP OTUS, I wonder if my vote will be counted. I'll have to check the election results when they're posted on line to see if my vote was counted. We Trotskyist/Marxists must learn to adapt to this situation.
Since 9/15/08's melt-down-the USA is bankrupt. My party, SEP, may get on the ballotts of the 50 states after the melt-down induced depression has run 10 years. There is no FDR to save capitalism. The situation could become grim in the USA. If the banks continue to function, we'll use ATM cards in lieu of US$ to deal with inflation or deflation to avoid having to use a Ga buggy filled with $100 bills to buy 1 loaf of bread. America's capitalists are an inventive lot. When socialists run the USA, they'll use ATM cards, not cash, for money.
i have a question...can anyone help???
my mom voted today. there were some places where only a republican was running, so she just didn't vote for them...she left it blank.
she is worried her obama vote won't count because she left some blanks...does anyone know about this??? we are in ohio and would love to help get ohio back on track and she is very worried...someone please help with this one!
thanks
worried in ohio
She fine. You can live boxes or circles blank. When you leave boxes or circles blank, that candidate just won't get the vote. I left a couple of Republican judges here in Canton blank, too.
Actually a non-vote for a non-contested seat is a fine vote. I'm not a fan of many a uncontested Democrats in my district and take grand pleasure in not voting for them ;-).
Her vote will count for who she voted for...her Obama vote will count. It does not matter that she left some blank. Tell your Mom her vote helped make history today.
whatever the outcome, today has been a good day.
Hardly...if McCain & Co. manage to steal this it will be disastrous and the people will not stand for it.
Today may be a good day but tomorrow will be something else entirely. Did you watch Fahrenheit 9/11? There was footage (which wasn't shown on MSM) of the outrage and the demostrations during the inaugural parade. This would be much, much worse.
Based on the polls, the energy, the registrations, the early voting, there should be only one outcome. Anything else and tomorrow I drop everything to see where I go to stand up against the fraud and theft.
Visualize the peaceful process of the exchange of power, like millions of us already do.
Encourage others whom you know to visualize the same, then encourage them to pass it on.
No matter who you are, everyone respects someone else. Meaning the people you know, know someone else who knows someone else, etc, etc.
Peace begins inside of the individual person...... it is to be shared.
Obama is strong, calm and sturdy, he will need us to be the same.
it is somewhat strange to see and read about several hour-long line ups for voting, something one maybe could expect in third word countries with poor organizing knowledge and resources. One could even suspect it is deliberate to make it as cumbersome as possible to exercise the democratic right to vote.
I"ll guess that in most western Europe countries would have caused war like headlines about the huge scandal of organize break down if people had to line up for hours to vote. Where I live voting is always on a Sunday when most people are off from work. Some countries the voting day for the main national elections is a holiday.
One could also go on about what seems to be awkward electoral registers ¦
Did you know that in Mexico, no alcohol is sold before or the day of election day. Also, election day is a national holiday.
ELECTORAL REFORM AND VOTING EQUIPMENT AND PROCEDURES HAD BETTER BE PRETTY HIGH UP ON A LIST OF PRIORITIES - THIS IS DISGRACEFUL - WE ARE NOT A THIRD-WORLD COUNTRY.....
THERE HAS GOT TO BE A FEDERAL STANDARDIZATION OF BALLOTS - THAT THEN GO TO THE STATE GOVERNMENTS TO FILL IN STATE/COUNTY/MUNICIPAL ISSUES AND CANDIDATES.....
BUT ALL BALLOTS SHOULD BE A STANDARD SIZE, STANDARD COLOR, STANDARD SHAPE, STANDARD WEIGHT OF PAPER - STANDARD, STANDARD, STANDARD.......
AND THERE SHOULD BE PAPER BACKUP AND RECORDS FOR ALL VOTING MACHINES........AND THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE BACKUP PAPER BALLOTS - IN CASE OF MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AT THE VOTING PLACES.
WE CAN PUT A MAN ON THE MOON - BUT WE CANNOT DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT AN EFFICIENT, EFFECTIVE, HONEST VOTING SYSTEM.....................SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG HERE!!!
The monsters who orchestrated the impediments to voting must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. check this post out:

Well written. We have a lot of work to do.
They're lined up coast to coast? Wow, that's one heck of a long line.
I know by tonight the news will be full of stories about voters standing in long lines or being unduly challenged at the polls.
With Obama's expected overwhelming majority, those affected won't change the likely outcome.
If your state allows early voting make a stink to your Rep about offering it at more polling paces.
If your state doesn't allow early voting, make a stink to your Rep about that.
Vote absentee if you must.
Vote
Wonderful pictures!
If only we could carry this sense of joy/urgency into future elections. We should always line up to exercise our right to vote.
Obama/Biden YES WE CAN FOR ALL OF US
We should line up and we shouldn't have to. Hours in line and millions of voters taken off roles: election day is our disgrace. Do something.
Viewing the slide show gave me a great burst of pride, GoAmerica and Go You Know Who......
Wooooooo I voted and was lucky there were no lines at my polling place in Staten Island NY. GO O!!
Wow! Guess it pays off to live in a small town. I got right in the building and was 3rd in line for my section of the alphabet. I guess I waited no less than five minutes to vote. Then I went to Starbucks for free coffee!
YES WE CAN!
To help fight anxiety about the outcome, here's some feel-good Obama that you can watch between rounds of phone-banking:
