How to Take a Compliment

Posted: 06/11/2012 7:30 am

After a few days in London I recognized a pattern. It seems to be a common theme that Brits are uncomfortable taking compliments. In response to this realization, I decided to vlog about it! In this video, I offer tips for how to take a compliment and practice receiving.

it's horrible, but when anyone gives me a compliment, my immediate reaction is "What do they want from me?"

A great video ( a compliment ;-) )! When I speak about compliments and the power of appreciation, this is one of the main questions I get-- largely from women. While I have a whole chapter about this in my book, The Compliment Quotient, your tips are great. I'd add that for those who really have a very big problem with this, one way to get the receiving going is to focus on how much simply saying thanks is a gift back to the person who gave you the compliment. This can get you started on the path of owning your light. Gracious acceptance is not selfish, but raises the boats of brilliance for us all! Thanks, Gabrielle
