Video: Could This Be the Secret Weapon Against Climate Change Deniers?

Fighting climate change isn't easy. But the League of Conservation Voters, Organizing for Action and SHFT, co-founded by Adrian Grenier, have released a new online video, "Science Fair Nightmare," unveiling a secret weapon to challenge the climate change deniers in Congress -- their kids.

While the video is satire, there are real-world examples to draw from. Former Republican Congressman Bob Inglis attributed his transformation on climate change to encouragement from his son. Retired Republican Senator John Warner said that his late-career commitment to climate change was in part due to concern for his children and grandchildren.

Climate change deniers should be concerned about the growing generational divide we're seeing nationwide. Young people don't question the evidence -- they overwhelmingly accept the science of climate change and are concerned for how it will affect their lives. A bipartisan poll of young voters under 35, released by LCV this summer, showed that across the board, they see climate change deniers as disconnected from their concerns.

As President Obama advances his climate action plan, climate change deniers in Congress will be forced to choose between siding with their polluter campaign contributors or siding with their constituents. This video is a reminder of what's at stake for our kids -- and that should make the right choice all the more clear.
