Geoff Young
Geoff Young is a 2007 graduate of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. Geoff was born and raised in Metro Detroit and lived for brief periods in Washington DC and Chicago. His policy passions include transportation, mass transit, regional cooperation, and eGovernment.

After he earned his Masters, Geoff worked for the Charter County of Wayne as an Executive Project Manager in communications and economic development. He played a central role in the founding of the Detroit Region Aerotropolis Development Corporation in 2009 and the adoption of the Next Michigan Development Act in 2010. In 2009, he was recognized as one of Crain’s Detroit Business “20 in their 20s” for his work on the Aerotropolis initiative.

Geoff currently works on planning and business development strategy for a major Detroit-based health insurance company. He is charged with facilitating the development of the insurer’s 2014 individual reform product portfolio and educating consumers about health care reform.

Geoff also serves as a board member of the Detroit-based nonprofit Summer in the City, which brings together youths from around the region to beautify the city and mentor its youth.

Geoff envisions a day when the Detroit region is the most interconnected in the United States, and a day when its leaders set aside parochial and geographic interests in favor of regional competitiveness. Geoff sees the presence of urban sprawl and the automotive industry as an opportunity for government and the private sector to come together to define a new paradigm in mobility that can be replicated throughout the world.
