Echoing the bigoted and right-wing contortions of the National Republican Trust PAC and disgraced Tea Party leader Mark Williams, Sarah Palin has sent the world of Twitter on fire this afternoon, with a series of incendiary Tweets about the proposed Islamic cultural center and mosque two blocks from the site of the World Trade Center

She pulled down one of them after concocting the word "refudiate" and then used the word "refute" incorrectly.

Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn't it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate
2010-07-19-Picture103.png
Peaceful New Yorkers, pls refute the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers site is too raw, too real.

She then pulled the second attempt down and took a third swipe at it.

Peace-seeking Muslims pls understand. Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing

"Peaceful," "peace-seeking"? Why the qualifier? How about "peaceful Christians"? And as if Sarah Palin knows anything about "healing." Perhaps that's the biggest joke of all.

Well, not quite. The Thrilla from Wasilla then compared herself to none other than the Immortal Bard himself (and with indirect reference to her primary obsession, Barack Obama).

'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!'

As Billy Boy so wisely noted in The Tempest:

You cram these words into mine ears against
The stomach of my sense.

We need reparations from Muslims, not mosques!
1. Muslims traded slaves since the religion's inception in 652 AD and still do today in some regions like Mauritania. They attacked Europe numerous times seeking slaves, especially white Eastern Europeans (i.e., slavs) They took African girls for harems and African boys for eunuchs (chop-chop)
2. Muslim traders in North Africa spread smallpox from the Arabian peninsula across Africa and then into Europe. Hundreds of millions have died from smallpox in Europe, Africa and the New World. The smallpox that killed Native Americans was a disease originally from E. Africa or Central Asia. There have been a billion deaths worldwide from smallpox, but it was finally eradicated by European effort.
3. Muslims plundered Jewish and Christian settlements in Palestine and subjected the culture to backwards rule and primitive religious values. They repeatedly harassed the eastern Greek civilization finally overrunning it in successive waves, turning it into the backwards region of Asia Minor under Suleman and the Ottoman empire.
4. They execute thousands of dissident religious minorities every year throughout the entire domain of Islamic control. (UN statistics)

The British and American Navies finally put an end to worldwide slavery which had existed for thousands of years, .... but get the blame for the problem. What about the 14 centuries of Islamic slavery?

LMAO @ loyalist ................ OK so bad things have been done in the name of Islam. So.............., have you looked as carefully and with as much bias into Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, Emperor/Ancestor worship, animism, Calvinism, Catholicism, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Russian Empire, Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy and the Hudson Bay Company et cetera, ad nauseum. ...................... Come on you surely don't believe that Muslims were the only people on earth ever to do something bad?

This is to question your claims about Chesler who purports to have been a feminist.
(OK, she did write "Women and Madness," innovative for the times). But her journey
was not typical of feminism. To marry--an Afghani Muslim, sounds regressive to
me, like an eyes-wide-open-trip to the most repressive marital arrangement possible.

What happened to Chesler to cause her to go so far to the other extreme from that
which she was prolestyzing in the feminist/psychology movement? That's the more
important question.

Afghanistan in the 70's was a common place for young, American college students and hippies to travel, so it is not that big of deal. Also, her then husband was very Americanized, or so she thought. Anwyay, she has a website if you google her name, it shows all her books. I don't remember what exactly caused her to start moving right, if that is even what you would call it. If I come across it, I will let you know. She has some very interesting articles on her site about women's plight around the world.

Geoffry Dunn, like so many who have the same twisted mind set of socialism, makes one wonder why he doesn't make a film on 'The Brave New World of Elitist Racism'. This current rant on Sarah Palin is almost too silly to comment on - but as this online magazine is one of favorite places to find out how the negative mind is at work - next to The National Enquirer, I'd give ole Geoffry an A+
Many great Americans have used strange verbiage to make a point. They even create words that don't exist. Spelling doesn't make great Presidents. But the liberal mind set hops on the spelling bee and forgets the honey.Building a Muslim Mosque at the base of Twin Towers could not be a worse move. Many of my friends lost their lives on that day and I would hope that peace loving Muslims would feel the same. Her words resound because middle America feels the same. I put Geoffry Dunn in the same class as Marvel Comic filmmaker Oliver Stone. Both should get the Mad Magazine award for twisted thinking.

"But the liberal mind set hops on the spelling bee and forgets the honey." Based on that
erudition, I must put you in an even lesser category than your "Marvel Comic filmmaker."
I don't agree with your put down of Oliver Stone, by the way. Who are you to call out
these gentlemen for "twisted thinking?" And who am I to ever challenge your coruscating
proposal of "The Brave New World of Elitism Racism when you're tripping out?

SCARE BEARS
In Jason Linkins fine article on this thread, we can learn that Palin's tweet was just a part
of the GOP Grand Scheme. (I say, it smells Rovian.)

Linkins says: "Attacking Muslims Is In Vogue Again Among Conservatives."
I'll give a quote from the first sentence of that article, and then provide the link below.

"Recently in the land of the demented, it's become ultra-voguish o hate Americans who are practitioners of Islam. Loud, angry, scare-bears have made their position very clear.
Muslims aren't allowed to have mosques in lower Manhattan or Staten Island or
Tennessee or Southern California."

mrskorn - yes, "it" is common! Way too common. In fact, yesterday your post to me
about the Alaskan "Bear Man" was removed after it had appeared for some time.
together with my response to you which consisted only of the words that it was
"sad, sad about [Treadwell's] girlfriend." One can only guess why the thing was
pulled. You said a w-word which rhymes with Jacko which, if it was censored
for that, is mind boggling since Herzog's film describes the extent of Treadwell's
mental "demons," to include the likelihood that he was "bipolar affective disordered."

I thought that you might have stealth deleting powers!

Why has a community center and mosque in the borough of Manhattan outraged Palin and her Tea Party. It’s a local matter in a city distant in place and culture to them. The answer appears to be Pamela Geller. Had Ms Geller not inserted herself into the media 24/7, organized a protest march, promoted it on her blog, and spread lies to conservative groups across the nation the Cordoba House would have been news only to the residents of Manhattan, 60% of whom approve of the project. Who is Pamela Geller? She is an anti-Muslim, anti-Obama, birther. She stated in her blog,” Atlas Shrugged” that President Obama’s father is Malcolm X. Her blog is the source of many bizarre rumors about the President. She created the organization “Stop the Islamization of America (SIOA) a hate group that spreads misinformation and often out right lies about Islam and Muslims. She supports “Pro Koln” a neo-Nazi group in Germany and the EDL a fascist skin head group in England. She paid for anti-Cordoba House and anti-Muslim advertisements posted on NYC buses. She has, single handed, spread this anti-Muslim hysteria about the Cordoba House. It’s disheartening that so many people are so eager to believe her lies. But it is truly frightening to realize that one person can generate so much hate and hysteria. I thought we were better than this kind of ugliness.

Her bus and taxi ads are not anti Muslim. They offer a contact for Muslims who feel threatened by Islam and want help or to leave the religion, and don't know where to go. The taxi ads focus on helping women fearing honor killings. Wow, those are terrible things to promote.

The Muslim community apparently doesn't agree with you. I believe the Ohio "honor killing" story has been largely debunked as something Geller used for her own ends. Geller is a very negative and destructive force. She is contributing nothing positive to the situation.

Detroit's SMART bus system has rejected the button-pushing placards that read "Fatwa on your head? Is your community or family threatening you? Leaving Islam?" - and direct Muslims to a Web site urging them to leave the "falsity of Islam."
"It's a purely anti-Muslim hate issue," Dawud Walid of the Council on American-Islamic Relations told the Detroit News on Friday.

Faiza Ali, of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the ads were based on a false premise that people face coercion to remain with Islam. She said Muslims believe faith that is forced is not true belief. Geller has a history of speaking out against Muslims, and the ads are "a smoke screen to advance her long-standing history of anti-Muslim bigotry," Ali said.

May I make a wild stab in the dark, mrskorn? I sense in your
statement an undercurrent of anxiety--whether you actually feel
it or not is anyone's guess--which you would have us all start to
feel anew, in a type of emotinal contagion. OMG! The onset of
mass panic > > Sarah Palin is RIGHT for once! Don't let THEM
build a mosque anywhere near NYC, let alone the site of the
towers. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah Palin. . .

(hmmm? In no way am I hinting that you would have a vested
interest in supporting any cause advanced by Palin, someone
you've probably never even met, who lives up in Alaska, way
far away from the elusive mrskorn!)

Earlier today I wrote one sentence to say that I wanted to try to
get my made-up word, "bearophile," into the Urban Dictionary.
Does anyone see that as offensive to the extent that it would
have been censored? Can I not share that benign thought
about a word, which is neutral in tone?

If anyone has insight into the dubious nature of my apparent
disregard for a word, please let me know. Thanks.
