Betrayal is everywhere in the news. We learned today from the Washington Post that Alan Greenspan said, in his new book, "I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil." Not keeping our country safe, as the troops were told. Not democracy. Not Weapons of Mass Destruction. Not al Qaeda. Oil! All those lives and maimings about oil! Are you shocked, shocked? It is Betrayal of Trust of the highest order: "Politically inconvenient ... everyone knows..." Oil was not discussed at the Petraeus hearings. The silence in Washington has been polite.
MoveOn's "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?" ad has raised vital questions that need a thorough and open discussion. The ad worked brilliantly to reveal, via its framing, an essential but previously hidden truth: the Bush Administration and its active supporters have betrayed the trust of the troops and the American people.
MoveOn hit a nerve. In the face of truth, the right-wing has been forced to change the subject -- away from the administration's betrayal of trust and the escalating tragedy of the occupation to of all things, an ad! To take the focus off maiming and death and the breaking of our military, they talk about etiquette. The truth has reduced them to whining: MoveOn was impolite. Rather than face the truth, they use character assassination against an organization whose three million members stand for the highest patriotic principles of this country, the first of which is a commitment to truth.
New York Times columnist Frank Rich, right about so many things, got it wrong when he criticized the ad in his Sunday column.
He overlooks the fact that the "distraction" he worries about has led the supporters of the Iraq occupation to endlessly evoke the Betrayal of Trust frame, identifying themselves with the Betrayer of Trust in that frame. The betrayers themselves took MoveOn's bait.
Thanks to their making it a national issue, we can now proceed to discuss their Betrayal of Trust on the national stage they have conveniently provided. The importance of this frame is discussed in "Betrayal of Trust: Beyond Lying" -- Chapter 6 of Don't Think of an Elephant!
Betrayal is a moral issue, and with respect to war, mass destruction, maiming, and death, it is a moral issue of the highest order. Betraying trust is a matter of deception that knowingly leads to significant harm. There is little doubt that the Iraq War and its aftermath have done considerable harm -- to our troops, to the Iraqi people, and to our nation as whole. It is equally clear that there has been a considerable amount of deception in the instigation of the war and throughout the occupation. In short, there has been, and continues to be, a considerable betrayal of trust. It goes well beyond the general and the fudging of his figures.
The issue is this: Who has been betraying the trust of the American people -- including our troops -- in bringing about the American invasion of Iraq and in continuing the occupation? What were the acts of betrayal and with what consequences? And is a betrayal of trust still going on, and if so where, how, and by whom?
I have developed a deeper look at these issues. You can read that in my new article Iraq and the Betrayal of Trust. But meanwhile, let's talk about one of the traps we should stay out of: The Politeness Trap.
Bush took advantage of certain conventions of etiquette and politeness when he sent Petraeus to testify before Congress. Those conventions hold that one does not criticize the symbolic stand-in for the military, even when the uniform-wearing stand-in is on an overt political mission that is at the heart of the Administration's continuing betrayal of trust. Decorum can be put to political use, and Bush did just that.
Bush was using a familiar right-wing tactic: identifying himself with a military uniform and the stature of the military in general, when he had no military stature himself. Rudy Guiliani used the same tactic in his ad in Friday's NY Times: he put on military drag by associating himself with Petraeus' rank and role, hoping some of the stature of the military would rub off on him. The implicit message is an attack on MoveOn: in pointing out Petraeus' deception, MoveOn, so Giuliani implies, was being disrespectful of the military itself. This is a typical right-wing attack on progressives, and progressives shouldn't stand for it. They should not be allowed to hide behind the troops. The troops themselves have been betrayed. None of us wants to hear it, to know it, to acknowledge it. Least of all me. It disgusts me how the troops have been betrayed by people saying, "Support our troops." But it is true, and millions of us must start saying so. There are unacknowledged villains behind this carnage.
In a country that takes its freedoms seriously, freedom of speech must be maintained. Betrayal through deception is much worse than being impolite. Where tens of thousands of deaths and maimings are concerned, it is immoral not to point out betrayals when they are real. It is patriotic to root out betrayal on grand scale wherever it occurs.
The American people have been betrayed by the architects and apologists for the invasion and occupation of Iraq. By avoiding the politeness trap in a patriotic, direct, and factual way, MoveOn correctly framed the betrayal of trust for what it is. And right now, the apologists for the occupation seem to be forgetting a lesson we thought Frank Luntz had schooled them on. They are quite busy invoking the frame of betrayal of trust, a frame that clearly best fits them. That frame is essential to bringing an end to the tragedy in Iraq.

Makes it hard to get any valid point across when the Repubs constantly hide behind the very icons they are destroying and shout "WE are the patriots".
Sorry state of affairs.
Far be it from me to correct the man who knows so much about framing, but it seems to me that the MoveOn ad was successful precisely because it DID change the subject to the betrayal of Americans. That was not an issue before, so MoveOn created a new frame.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But beyond all that, it was a fucking sophomoric ad and an embarrassment to anyone who's trying to carry on an intelligent conversation. It reduces the discussion to the level of a junior high school food fight.
Nope. It put the words "betrayal" into the GOP simpleton minds who don't remember more than 3 words at a time.
We ahve been betrayed by soooo many of our 'leaders' in sooo many arena. Most not out of malice, but out of their own complacency. There are those will intentions that must deceive US about, because their reason is not OURS. It is motivated out of greed and power- DICK &fiends, Religious 'leaders', global corporations and the MSM. they all gain on personal levels for their efforts to deceive & betray. But we've been betrayed at a lower level too. Our lower ranking social justice 'leaders ' have become virtually invisible. They focus on one minute topic, or are scattered among so many there is no focus.I've gone to 2 'summits' this summer for 2 liberal organizations. We talked about all the probelms, and how we could get involved on an individual level. We all go home feeling personally impowered and figure that's all we need to do. Sign some petitions, put up signs/bump erstickers /share our opinions with others- great-EXCEPT it has gotten nowhee in the 35 yr quest for Human equality and freedoms. If we solve the human conditions and work to give all the same rights- most our social issues will be resolved. But we're so caught up with the 'LGBT" rights, childrens rights, worker rights, womens rights, state rights.... We can't see the forest from the trees. We have betrayed our selves and our decendants because we failed to keep an eye on the prize- world peace. We must be realistic- these individual leaders are just mouth peices to a group of people. They are responsible to gather our message- but it is US who must give them the message and the means by which to report it.We have our social leaders be the only face on our causes- let's show them who all they work for- US. We haven't been watching the hen house so the wolves were free to dine- WE HAVE BETRAYED OURSELVES, OUR CHILDREN AND THE WORLD. Time to clean up our mess.(Besi des these representatives only carry as much weight as We decide- that's a Democracy right ?)
"We have been betrayed by soooo many of our 'leaders' in sooo many arena. Most not out of malice" ???
How do you define malice? the intention or desire to do evil.
Did Cheney intentionally lie about WMD? Is dropping bombs "Shock & Awe" on a nation without cause EVIL?
I thought the ad in the Times accusing the General of 'betraying us' allowed the anti-war position to be caricatured as unpatriotic. A better ad may have called attention to the facts on the ground in Iraq, where it has been the bloodiest year to date. The Moveon ad could have also pointed out that the General has made partisan remarks before, such as, in his editorial in the New York Times just before the last election where he explained how well the war was going.
The ad allowed the right wing, such as O'Reilly, to put the ad on trial as unpatriotic, instead of focusing attention on the President's policy of an indefinite troop presence in Iraq. The policies of the far right are so unpopular, constant war, ignoring global warming and other science, ripping apart the social safety net, that they must constantly avert attention from discussing the implications of such policies.
Didn't see the ad. Don't need to. Anybody who has the support of the Bush administration is a traitor to America and the american people. It really is that simple.
Any statement of truth about the war or any of these traitors and their traitorous lies will be attacked by Rush, Bill, et all. That is just what they do. All patriots should take every oportunity to antagonize these propagandists. Their BS is getting thin with the american people and is unravelling for all to see.
"The ad allowed the right wing, such as O'Reilly, to put the ad on trial as unpatrioti c."
WHAT'S NEW?? They go on and on about all kinds of crap. Who watches it?
Can you imagine O'Reilly focusing attention on the President's policy of an indefinite troop presence in Iraq?
"The policies of the far right are so unpopular, constant war, ignoring global warming and other science, ripping apart the social safety net"
Unfortunately, the far right people I know APPROVE of these policies, they love war, they want to WIN!
As if O'Reilly needs this ad by Move On to call the anti-war movement unpatriotic. He's been doing that for six years without the help of Move On.
.showing all the generals that were fired before Petraeus for disagreeing with George & Dick with excerpts of all the rabid right wing idealogues vilifying them.
That's the point people! Don't cower at these fascists! Take their accusations turn it around and frame it to shame them! O'Reilly is loyal to an administration that does not have the support of the American people. O'Reilly is not loyal to the American people, he is loyal only to George Bush and Dick Cheney.
Geez, it's not that hard. Quit whining that Move On isn't supposed to criticize the puppets Bush and Cheney use to get their way.
The Neocons had no problem 'vilifying' General Shinseki or any of the last 7 or 8 generals that preceeded Petraeus who spoke out against their policies. The right wing has no problem vilifying the military that do not follow lockstep with their policies.
If Move On were smart, that would be their next ad campaign..
Remember when Guliani tried to defend Bush's Iraq policies by saying "Bush wasn't losing the war, it was the troops fault" or something to that effect. And what about all the horrfic comments made about those Generals who served in Iraq (they retired in order to speak out)that disagreed with how the war was being conducted. They gave up their careers in order to protect their troops. And what did they get for all there years of service and dedication, scorn, rediclule and disrespect. I'm pretty sure Colin Powell's service was honorable and that didn't stop him from lying infront of the world. So please don't insult my intelligence by pretending this guy is incapable of being a tool because he wears a unifrom.
Thank God somebody on the left has the balls to play hardball with these creeps. This is the kind of language they understand which is why they need to marginalize MoveOn. I hope we all donate something even if it's $5.00 to keep the ads coming.
The was probably a political mistake but it was not the ad itself that allowed the volume of the distraction. No it was the herding tendencies of the media. There is no reason to have covered this story so much or in the way it was covered. Everyone intoning the same incantations about blaspheming the new high priest and almost no voices calling the wrong wing on this attempt to immasculate the antiwar side of a debate. Shame on the media. Moyers show on how the media bought the war was just repeated Friday nite and the purchase of the con is repeated by the media. Hume called it an atrocity. By his standard what do we call the actual violence?
Abigger nerve was hit today re the protests which far surpassed the expected numbers. The President and the Republicans had better start listening seriously to the people. We will clean house next year and send Joe Lieberman to the corner of the Senate with his few remaining friends. Todays march is just the beginning, the 60plus percent of the people against the war are going to heard louder than ever, and the Democrats had better listen carefully.
On Charlie Rose General Petraeus was asked if we should have gone into Iraq in the first place, to which he answered, paraphrasing, he’d let history decide that.
He’s a military man, not a philosopher. He’s doing what he feels is his duty, so pinning the Betray Us moniker on him isn’t fair. It was our president who betrayed us, by lying about the weapons of mass destruction, and then asserting our goal was bringing democracy to Iraq in the hopes that it would serve as a template for the rest of the region.
We’re going to get casualty numbers from the military, not the information which is ultimately the most crucial, that being will the Shia and Sunni ever reconcile their differences. And moreover, why should the Shia, a people who have been subjugated for decades under Bathist rule now relinquish what democracy has supposedly brought them. Power, and access to oil revenues previously spent on palaces our military commanders now hole up in.
Maybe they want to exact some vengeance on the Sunni’s. Maybe some heads have to roll for the Shia to feel a measure of compensation, and maybe a civil war in an inevitable step in a country’s evolution, or demise. It’s like the Democrats in this country who are now coming into power. Can they forgive the GOP for the offenses of the last seven years? Whats their incentive when the Republicans perpetually ignore and steamroll their rivals mercilessly whenever they get into power.
It’s a philosophical problem. Don’t vilify a military man for not solving it.
May I add to your accurate assessment of the events here?
MoveOn made the mistake they did by villifying(good word) Gen. Petraeus because they failed to recognize that the General is the same person who we would call upon to defend us in the event of another 9/11, should we have to actually attack the right country in self-defense. Military officers don't make political policy.
MoveOn should spend more energy getting rid of Sen Lieberman, who never shot off anything other than his mouth.
No mistake was made. Petraeus CHOSE to lie to Congress. This is illegal in and of itself. Doing so in an effort to aid and abet other criminals only serves to compound that crime.
Note that no one has vilified those Generals who refused to go along, save for Republicans. This is not a "the military is evil" thing for the left, this is a trust issue. Petraeus has lied and deserves to be outed as a liar. It is really just that simple. True, "miltary officers don't make political policy," but we trust them not to lie to us when that policy is counterproductive or downright dishonest. Your argument didn't fly at Nuremberg, it won't fly here.
At that level the military IS political and they play CMA all they can which means, if they are of the ambitious ilk, they will suck up to the politician in the WH. Don't kid yourself. And that means also that to get where he has gotten General P. probably did alot of the schmoozing he could. They know how to get ahead and it is not being a grunt on the front lines.
I don't think Petraeus is blind to the fact the administration is using him as political cover at all.
Many honorable generals before Petraeus have held the same position, only to be fired for telling the truth. Petraeus is willing participant in the candy-coating of this debacle so Bush can hand the mess over to his successor.
It is said the man has his own presidential aspirations. Petraeus is an ambitious man willing to sacrifice the lives of his those under his command and drive us billions more into debt to please the Neocon political machine.
I've seen this written by another commenter on another thread but it bears repeating. It is really frightening that the people are supposed to look at the military as if it's beyond criticism.
The military operates under civilian rule and if we elevate it to some beyond reproach status we go down a very dangerous road. Ours is a government of/by/for the people. The military swears an oath to uphold and protect THE CONSTITUTION; not failed politicians.
President Bush asked General Petraeus to lie, and he did his duty.
President Bush asked Colin Powell to lie, and he did his duty.
You are right to say it is Bush who has betrayed us, but those that serve Bush in his evil plans are ALSO GUILTY!
They were just following orders!
. no, no it doesn't clear you of your crimes.
That clears you of any wrongdoing, right?
... I'm reciving word from our producer..
It's a militarys' mans' willingness to delete facts of Iraqi deaths like those shot in the front of the head vs the back, the deletion of large-scale bombing deaths, the lack of power and water to iraqis being mentioned, having hearings on 9/11 when 9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq......
leaving ALL of this out of the report is
BETRAYAL-to the troops. to Americans.
The Petraeus ad, however well intentioned and justifiable, was certainly a mistake. Like the disruptive demonstrations during the hearings in congress, the ad smacks of desperation. To the average human being desperation is scary, not seductive.
You're crazy. MoveOn definitely speaks for me. And hello! Where have you been for the last 6 years? WE ARE DESPERATE! People are dying and you talk of "seductive".
Sexy? Seductive? How's this for seductive: BushCo and their enabling Regressive Right Morons can GET FUCKED!
I think the Patraeus ad was a mistake because Patraeus is not the issue. As Nommo said above, the war is the issue. Patraeus is an employee who wants to stay employed. Once Patraeus is replaced Move-On will declare 'Mission Accomplished' and things will change as much as when Bush said the same thing. Same thing as Gonzales actually, did anything change at the Justice Department?
That said 'Patraeus=Betray Us' is a irresistible pun.
Petraeus made himself the issue when he chose to use faulty statistics to push the can down the road. He is a perfect example of the type of thing George and his cronies have done to get what they want. The ad was part of a process, not an end in itself. The mission has only just begun.
Petraeus took an oath to defend the Constitution. If he sees himself as an employee and Bush his employer, that is a tragic dereliction of duty. It betrays us.
Furthermore, what a neat self-serving trick. Bush is the decider, he hands over to Petraeus like Edgar Bergen handing over to Charlie McCarthy. Oh Charlie, tell us what you think!
The MoveOn ad was not a mistake. It got us talking about the farce that is going on in the White House, didn't it?
Anytime the wool falls from the public's eyes it's a good thing. They will come to love the truth and it will set them free from all the bush-shit that has been happening.
It is not desperation. It is frustration. That is different.
Anything that gets the right wing hornet nest buzzing must have hit a chord, definitely not a mistake, definitely their best move yet. MoveOn!
You mean as "scary and seductive" as the Swiftboat ads trevor?
Well, we are DESPERATE, aren't you?
Beautifully written. Thank you for addressing this issue head on. Were more people to talk like this perhaps we could get beyond our usual habit of eating our own and, instead, get something done with all that otherwise wasted energy.
Hear, hear!
Outstanding Lakoff.
A personal lesson. Polite doesn’t always get it done. A school yard bully, like say the Republican party, interprets politeness as weakness. A prompt fist to the mouth changes that interpretation in a hurry. The look on their face is priceless. After doing this a number of times you get a certain reputation.
Hunting down and exterminating them makes the bullies then think you are a bully, and you then are. In strength there is responsibility. Exercising strength without responsibility is brutality and makes you a terrorist.
My motto: I won’t fuck with you if you don’t fuck with me.
So true.
en you have five people picking on one person you often are "wounded". Duh.
You have to meet bullies on their own turf.In a cross cultural study of bullies I read long ago, I was saddened to learn that "the bullied" are thought of as weak and the bullies are actually more admired. It didn't give me much hope in dealing with the schoolyard bullying my child was dealing with but it explained the teacher's weird behavior in regards to it. She said my child acted like a "wounded animal" and thats why she was bullied.Wh
So we need to fight back at the risk of being labeled "rude".
absolutly beautiful
This administration is shamelessly hiding behind the military while simultaneously destroying it.
These execrable beings are shameless.
They've been leaning on that snooze button too long.
Betrayal is a two way street. It requires one who by omission or commission, is willing to go along. Remember that what drives the con is the greed of the mark. A willingness to believe for the sake of convenience makes an easy mark as well.
Some need to think that they know what is better for the life of their neighbor's or even that of another nation.
I don't think that this is the nation that takes its freedom seriously. There are far too many instances of events and times when this nation has been all too willing to shunt its freedoms in the face of ghosts--communism, civil rights,
you name it.
This nation has been too willing, too often to betray its own. Children, "minorities", old folks, the disabled, the mentally ill, those poor and huddled masses and whatever have you.
What goes around, comes around.
NOMMO,
Thousands with a concious mind have been isolated for not allowing thier morals or ethics to be corrupted. Your consent is required for someone to enslaved you. Beware those who seek concentrations of power, their goal is too enslave you.
WAKE UP CHRISTAINS!
Dear Mr. Lakoff,
That Sir was exquisite in its eloquence, enough said. Agape.
This process that Iraq and Petraeus are currently undergoing is called "Clarencing", and is becoming VERY popular with the GOP.
...guess when?
Here's how it works (briefly):
The focus of any "consternation" (perhaps a hearing or political conflict) will be some secondary issue of little or no impact on the reality itself. Some issue of “character”, perhaps (in fact, usually.)
(Specifically, in this instance, the “secondary” issue of Petraeus, versus the “real” issue of IRAQ.)
Some issue that can be dealt with, but not without a protracted, EXAGGERATED battle.
So much emphasis will be placed on this “secondary” issue that all the “real” issues will be pushed to the side, increasingly ignored as the fight continues.
When enough time has passed that all “real” issues are completely out of the picture, the “secondary” issue is FINALLY resolved, he will be deemed a “victim of the process”, and therefore a "good man", worthy of redemption (while completely ignoring any REAL issue.)
It's called "Clarencing", and it's been quite popular since it was discovered as a very happy accident..
About 'Clarencing', I vividly recall one GOP senator (Simpson I believe) going so far as to quote Shakepeare in defense of Clarence Thomas - the "He who steals my purse steals trash" speech, significantly from Othello. About having one's good name besmirched. BUT That quote actually was spoken by Iago the villan of the piece! In the play the speech was purposefully used by Iago to blow smoke in Othellos eyes when he begins to shos signs of suspecting Iago's damned lies.
Appropriate I'd say. Yup, sure sounds like a regular GOP tactic to me!
MD,
using is Strom Thurmond's fawning over CT.
Thanks! That's great.
What I also find....am
Funny, how CT would have been arrested simply for driving into SC with his white wife not too many years ago when Strom was in his prime.
(In fact, that law was only changed 3 or 4 years ago, and NOT by a large margin.)
Thanks, friend.
The Dem Congress are the betrayers.
They should have impeached Bush six months ago.
I just hope they do something soon, before Cheney attacks Iran. CAN ANYONE STOP this insanity?
thanks, Dr. Lakoff.
a friend
Marlyn,
In respect to someone stopping this, please make sure you forward any post you make here in a missive to your congressman as well. And if you find that individual is incapable of due diligence, perhaps you might wish to encapsulate the above comment and then frame it up with your own in a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. This administration has gone far beyond a betrayal of trust; in turning it's back on Al Qaeda to effect a policy of oil containment, it has committed treason as well. It is time to brandish those words in which this country was formed.
The founding fathers thought it was bad etiquette to send fellow cititzens off to war over perceived slights to one's leader. Having a president with thin skin would be as bad as a king with a complex--men (and in our case WOMEN, we have so evolved!) would be sent into battle for something other than national security. Hence that declaration of war from the senate, as well as the right to look over any treaties. The congress needs to be told that Dubya is much more than a betrayer--he's a traitor. Tell your congressman, please.
Respectfully submitted,
Francis Jens Erickson
WHERE WOULD THEY GET THE VOTES TO IMPEACH?
DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MANY IT TAKES?
My bet is with the majority of the people.Thr ow it out there and I think the people would demand that it be put to a vote and anyone who bet against the people pay with their seat. The dems got no guts and that is why they dont get any more votes from me.They think to get what the repubs have otherwise why have the only thing thats passed is minimum wage and that a cheap throw to the needy?A dem tyrant is no less a possibility than a repub.Powe r corrupts. Tony
Majority in the house to impeach. They can get that.
THEN... Here's the thing. You think you know they don't have the votes in the Senate. It's the official story. But maybe... maybe it's like 9/11. Most of us don't believe the official story anymore, but you can hardly get a congressperson to even acknowledge that there's something wrong there. Thom Hartmann has offered to hold a debate on his radio program. Trouble is, he can't find anyone who'll take the side of the official story. I think whoever says they can't get the votes to impeach are not even looking for them.
So look. Hold the hearings. Hold the impeachments. It's not like these guys can't do more harm in the next 490 days. It's not like these guys can't do more harm tomorrow.
Stop counting votes ahead of time. The act of impeachment is required.. .without regard to who may vote how. What is right to do, must be done or we loose our country's soul. It really is simple, folks.
WE MUST IMPEACH.
We know that impeachment wont succeed like the Republicans knew that impeachment wouldn't succeed against Clinton. Republicans tried but Democrats are not even trying.
Cindy Sheenan where are you? It's time to go for Pelosi's seat !
The Republicans were willing to go ahead with the impeachment of President Clinton despite the great possibility that they would not get a conviction in the Senate. The very act of impeachment and the trial in the Senate was seen as hurting the President. I would be happy to see the House impeach Bush and Cheney just to open the debate about the war in Iraq.
We need to retreat from Iraq now. We have slaugtered to many of the terrorists in Iraq. This is a police matter.
One innocent person is too many. There were no trials. Everyone is innocent till proven guilty. Don't buy the crap. Bring on the war crimes trials and restore reason, liberty and justice for all.
The Dems have been disappointing, but betrayers? They have had, what, nine months and are supposed to undo seven years of republican lockstepping? You obviously do not understand the way things work in Washington. Until they can get 67 votes in the Senate for any bill, they can never get much of anything done, because Bush will veto it. There are less than 50 dems in the Senate, and until the republicans quit their damned stalling and obstruction, nothing will happen. There is no way Bush can be impeached until enough Republicans go along with it.
Republicans are at the root of everything wrong in this country. You can try and hang everything on the Dems, but it won't work. The majority of Americans know this, and more are finding out every day. You complain about the Dems, but I'll bet you haven't done a thing but bitch from your keyboard, and are therefore part of the problem.
Don't forget about the Blue Dogs and Connecticut for LIEbeman
Print off 50 copies of a bill with timetables for withdrawl - and keep handing them to Bush. Make sure the onus of the troops not being funded falls on Bush. Do not give him any other option -- withdrawl timetables or no money.PERI OD!

The Right betrayed the Country and we still have Nader-lovi ng-left-wi ng-holier- than-thou- socialists beating on the Democrats?! Are the far Right and Far Left totally and absolutely deluded?!
The Right is a bunch of bigots, racists, religious zealots who would have the Bible running this Country instead of the Constitution. They thwart free speech and would rather impose THEIR moralities on others through Government legislation, smacking of a Theocracy and not a Democracy! They are the progeny of the same demographics who once wanted to secede from the Union and perpetuate slavery!
They have "betrayed" America for generations. They are the most UN-American forces in our society while claiming to be the most patriotic
