The creator of the Star Wars Saga and Indiana Jones series, George Lucas is also the director of American Graffiti and THX 1138, as well as the producer and executive producer of a myriad of projects – including the critically acclaimed look at early 20th century history, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones. Currently, he is executive
producing Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Red Tails – a fictional story inspired by the heroic exploits of America’s first all-black aerial combat unit.

Lucas has also taken a leadership role in applying his technical and storytelling expertise to the classroom, engaging students through interactive multimedia environments. In 1991, he founded the George Lucas Educational Foundation and Edutopia to pursue and promote best practices in education -- highlighting proven strategies, tools and resources for creating lifelong learners.

Over the years, Lucas has received some of the entertainment industry’s highest honors, including the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; the AFI’s Lifetime Achievement Award; the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Visual Effects Society; and the nation’s highest award
for technological achievement -- the National Medal of Technology --- for 30 years of innovation at Industrial Light & Magic.

I didn't enjoy school very much. Occasionally, I had a teacher who would inspire me. But as an adult, as I began working with computer technology to tell stories through film, I began to wonder, "Why couldn't we use these new technologies to help improve the learning process?"
