This is Annie Kagan. She's the sister and courageous storyteller.

Billy Fingers is her brother. He's the beloved, yet "bad boy" dead one. He had been drinking and ran across a highway in Florida where he got hit by a car. Sadly, that is how he lost his life.

Billy's life included drug abuse, alcoholism and homelessness. It also included his greatness -- helping kids in the court system, running drug centers, living a wealthy lifestyle on the upper east side of Manhattan. You could say he did it all, or at least tried to.

Three weeks after he died in 2005, Annie says Billy began telepathically communicating with her. It was the last thing this Queens girl expected, but she said she eventually opened up to it. He told her about his life, his death, and where he is now. The details are in Annie's book, The Afterlife of Billy Fingers: How My Bad Boy Brother Proved to Me There is Life After Death.

I asked Annie to share three things about what Billy learned or experienced surrounding death. The three things that were most interesting, she said, were probably the most controversial as well. Annie writes in an email:

1. According to Billy, there is no judgment or punishment in the afterlife. That's because the nature of the Divine is Pure Bliss.

2. There's a lot going on in the next dimension aside from reuniting with loved ones. As the Soul evolves, sometimes it is just between the Soul and the Source.

3. When we evolve to a high level, when we are done being born on earth, we eventually leave behind our Souls and become pure Spirit.

This list is a lot to take in. I have to stop. Breathe. For one, can you imagine what Pure Bliss feels like? Can you imagine living in another dimension? Can you ever imagine dropping your Soul to merge with Source? Oh, my. This is existential. And here I was this morning, trying to figure out a way to get from Brooklyn to New Jersey for my two nieces graduation party. At the same time, according to Annie, Billy says spiritual evolution could be taking me on a cosmic journey for which I apparently need no mode of transportation.

Toward the end of the book, Annie writes, Billy says:

"I am a king, a drug addict, a saint and a beggar."

The only thing I would add is this: Billy, you're also a beloved teacher. Thank you.
