A native New Yorker, she has a Ph. D. in English literature from the University of Illinois. For years she was an arts producer and critic for public radio and television stations in Central Illinois, and wrote reviews for local newspapers. After moving back to Manhattan two decades ago, she turned to free lance writing, doing reviews and articles for publications like Kirkus Review, Variety and DanceMagazine. Currently, she is working on a collection of stories based on her childhood in New York City during the ‘Great Depression.’
