Obama is "Anti-Christ Muslim" Email Still Circulating -- And Here It Is

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

With all the attention on this week's New Yorker cover, it should not be overlooked that one email that inspired it is still circulating, though long repudiated by the alleged author.

A friend of mine received it just this week from a close (rightwing) relative. It's cute that it cites Snopes as a source -- since Snopes mocks it.

I will reprint most of it here and then the denial from the "author" and church (in Florida).

Here it is.

"A man will come from the east...."

MAY WE ALL PRAY FOR WISDOM AND DISCERNMENT AND PRAY FOR EACH OTHER AS WE MAKE THIS DECISION OF A LIFETIME! OUR LIVES, CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN'S LIVES WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER BECAUSE OF OUR CHOICE THIS ELECTION. MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL!

God help us if this man is elected!! But it is all stated in the Bible and it will happen sooner or later.

This is from Darlene Millican, wife of the pastor of Trinity Bapt. Church here in Sun City:

"I have felt for sometime now that Obama is the one person that 'Frightens Me'. I believe the Bible has warned us that 'A man will come from the East that will be charismatic in nature and have proposed solutions for all our problems and his rhetoric will attract many supporters!'

"When will our pathetic Nation quit turning their back on God and understand that this man is 'A Muslim'... First, Last and always... and we are AT WAR with the Muslim Nation, whether our bleeding-heart, secular, Liberal friends believe it or not. This man fits every description from the Bible of the 'Anti-Christ'!

"I'm just glad to know that there are others that are frightened by this man! Who is Barack Obama? Very interesting and something that should be considered in your choice.

"If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it. snopes.com confirms this is factual. Check for yourself.

"Who is Barack Obama? Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu , Hawaii , to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas ....

"Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, 'He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school.' Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

"Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran. Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches. Do you want someone like this as your PRESIDENT?

"Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy. The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own! The Bible says 'He will come from among you!'

"Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country? NOT ME!!! WITHOUT GOD, WE ARE NOTHING!!!"

Ms. Millican has denied she wrote the email and her church has sent out the following:

It has been brought to our attention that an e-mail has been circulating from our pastor's wife, Darlene Millican about Barack Obama, with the subject line: "Is He the Anti-Christ?".

This is absolutely NOT TRUE!!

Mrs. Millican has absolutely no idea how this horrible e-mail was started AND named her as the originator of such slander.

Luke 6:47 (NKJ) states, "Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: "He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock."

Darlene has spent her life teaching others to be and do their best for Christ . . . which includes not slandering others!

We also have no idea how it would be sent out using the Church's e-mail. Trinity Baptist Church's statement is that, "Everybody is somebody . . . and Jesus Christ is Lord" and our Pastors and Administration is absolutely aghast that this slanderous message is circulating about Barak Obama.

Any thing can be circulated on the internet or through MSM. The American people have been inundated with lies, mis-information or anything that distract from what is really going on behind the political scene. It is a part of the propaganda campaign of those who are in power. Divide and conquer. Control the minds. Create hysteria, panic and fear.

The email says "We are at war with the Muslim nation," but doesn't elaborate on how this war was totally unjustified and based on deciet and lies. Is that a Christian thing to do?

Is it Christian to attack a country who did not attack us, uproot and kill it's citizens, make orphans and then want to occupy this country indefinately?

People are trying to spin this war from WMD, to liberaters, oil, and armageddon instead of calling it what it truly is: Wrong.

What is really funny is that the very Bible these God-fearing Christians hold dear is where the origin of the anti-Christ is found. In other words, these Christians want to try to overcome God's will by preventing the arrival of their presumed anti-Christ. And they are doing so with such gusto. I guess "God-fearing" is no longer applicable to Bible thumpers.

I 100% agree. I asked my co-workers were they seriously going to battle with God about his scripture....there was silence in the breakroom.

If he is the anti-christ, it means that we can't change him being elected as president. So we must all do our duty per revelation to elect him as president. So paster Hagee and the like can have the end days already.
I thought the anti-christ happens whether you like it or not. Lets all do our duty to elect this anti-christ so the rapture can happen, and we can dissappear into the sky.

I need to start my own mass e-mail called elect the anti-christ, since I was told that in a dream by Jesus just like president Bush.

the stupidity never seems to phase me. But i will give them a 7 for their creativity.

While you are out there googling, google Catholic Church Inc and see what you come up with. All churches have a corporate side.

Not surprising at all Michale, I've also heard that her campaign had quite a bit to do with the spreading of these smears.

So you post the email and the denial, but NOT any facts to counter it or even a link to debunking? Links to debunking would have been cool, if for no other reason than to give people someplace to send the mistaken.

It is silly to assume that anyone who reads that wouldn't vote for O. My aged father got all those smears but all he needed was for me to fill him in on facts. There is imo a large pop of people who scan yahoo, and read these stupid emails, but dont research b/c the net is still a bit intimidating to them. So they go with the info that smacks them in the face the loudest.

But I thought the Second Coming of Christ was a Good Thing?

Why are they all upset that the anti-Christ is finally here?
Isn't that what they want?

Are they trying to derail God's own plan??!!!!

I personally am convinced organized religion is actually evil, lol. Look what it spawns: hatred, intolerance, persecution, war, judgements, attempts ot legislate religion and attempts to force everyone to think One Way - their way! If there is a devil (which I don't beleive) he would be laughing his arse off at how many centuries people have done his dirty work in the name of god.

These people need to concentrate on faith and themselves, less on what everyone else is doing., and stay the F out of politics.

My spouse was talking to a friend yesterday who professes to be a Christian. The person said they would never vote for a black man for president.

Sigh. How can someone read the sayings of Jesus yet speak this way? Do they read with blinders on?

What's REALLY frightening is that America continues to harbor so many racist, xenophobic knuckle-draggers, and that their vomitous ramblings can still gain as much traction as they do. To paraphrase one of the Founders, I tremble to think that there may be a just God.

Only simpletons would give credence to such an email. These same simpletons aren't going to vote for Obama anyway, and may not even vote for McCain. I can't imagine anyone changing their mind about Obama after reading such obvious horseshit.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:08 AM on 07/16/2008

These "simpletons" are not all so simple. They need a way to explain their vote in a way that conceals their real reason. Many Bible thumpin' Christians would have a hard time admitting to his or her fellow Christians that race, and race alone could sway their vote. The anti-Christ Muslim thing works so much better for them. And in this way they can also "encourage" other Bible thumpin' Christians to follow their "reasonable" fears.

And I'm also disturbed that people cannot see the lies in this one paragraph, which has nothing true in it except Obama's NAME:

""Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. Do you want someone like this as your PRESIDENT?"

He was never a muslim (which was in an earlier paragraph), he did NOT use the Koran (that was Congressman Keith Ellison), NOBODY officially swears in on the bible (they use it as a prop in their offices AFTER the official swearing in ceremony, which is done as a group, in the main chamber), there's NO evidence that he won't recite the pledge, and he's NEVER turned his back to the flag and slouched (although I think that I may start doing that as a further opposition statement about the state this country is in)

One correction..

Senator Obama, at birth, was a Muslim by Muslim standards. Once of age, he choose to become a christian...

I agree with the gist of what you are saying, but sticking with the facts is always the logical choice.

Michale.....

Perhaps. I'm not sure how they handle that. I know that the child of a Jewish woman is by default a Jew. But I also know that he was never RAISED Muslim. Kind of like how I am by default a Christian, having had two parents who were Christian, but since I was not taken to church by my parents, I was not RAISED Christian, and I have never considered myself to be one!

Try to find a Muslim scholar that will confirm that ridiculous assertion. Jus tbecause Daddy's a Muslim, doesn't automatically mean your a Muslim. It's not like having a Jewish mother. So you are incorrect, Obama was never a Muslim by Muslim standards because that "standard" does not exist.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:52 PM on 07/16/2008

Unfortunately I cannot provide a reference / link but I've read that that belief ("born muslim by default") has been debunked.

I still find it really amusing that the same wingnuts who are opposed to Obama because "he's a muslim, and they're evil" are ALSO the ones who are opposed to Obama because "that crazy anti-American preacher he's got!"
