The McCain campaign thinks his campaign strategy of "suspending" his campaign helps reinforce his "Country First" slogan, but it really just makes him look like an old man who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Obama could send Joe Biden to EITHER the debate or the bailout talks, and not miss a beat. That's precisely why Obama chose him. Can McCain claim the same? Nope. He couldn't send Palin to either one with any confidence.
What's the time frame of the debate relative to the bailout talks, anyway. How long a plane ride is it from Mississippi to D.C.? Can't they attend both? The Congress doesn't have to adjourn Friday anyway. In fact I hope they'll consider this iffy bailout over the weekend, instead of rushing to judgment.
John McCain has not spoken to the press in days ......................... Palin has yet to come out and face an impromtu press event ..............................
McCain's campaign has been suspended since Palin was announced.
METHINKS HE'S JUST PANICKED ....................... HE'S LOSING BIG TIME.
i'm loving all of this...i've said before that Obama needed to find a way to turn the press against McCain but it seems that the Republican candidate for POTUS has done this himself...his waffling on the economy and his need to keep a muzzle on his much less credentialed running mate has put him at odds with the press corps...not to mention his attacks on the NYT and any others who dare to question his record, leadership, behavior or judgement...his P.O.W. shield is all but gone now.
Obama knows all to well that once the press gets hold of a bone they won't let go until they've been satisfied...questions about Palin, Rick Davis and his record of supporting deregulation won't go away...he can distract and avoid as Obama did but ultimately he will have to fess up...it was'nt until Obama had his exhaustive 90 minute Q&A with the press that he was able to put to rest his Rezko association...better for McCain to let the press examine now while there's still time to repair any damage that may occur...
I think you are wrong. If the debate goes on, you will see this ad
"John McCain stopped campaigning until we can find a solution to this crisis. Barack Obama kept campaigning not caring if you lose your home, your retirement and your college fund. John McCain is willing to lose valuable campaign time to help this country out of this economic hardship, while Barack Obama just wants to win. John McCain puts Country First, Barack Obama puts; Obama first."
That ad running Friday night would not help Obama at all. We were talking about it at work, and everyone is saying that getting this bailout right is more important than a debate, we have 6 weeks left, the debate can wait a week. Some of these people are Obama supporters, I don't want to turn on my TV and see that ad.
I think you are confused. Barack Obama is providing genuine bipartisan leadership at this critical time. Exxon John is only grandstanding....as usual.
Right! I've been saying how TIRED he looks on TV. Keep it up, guys. We have to point out that he simply cannot handle the demanding schedule of a president at his age. But focus on how TIRED he looks.
The entire conservative ideology has melted down and no one has noticed. There are literally millions of Republicans running around naked right now while the MSM compliments them on their suits. What is needed in about $50 million in ads across the nation spelling out how and why conservatism failed. Not that it would do any good for conservatives. They have invested so much of their identites in being a 'conservative' that even if they acknowlege the failure personally, they will never do do publically. I can only hope that while in the privacy of the voting booth, they will think of their children who will be the true victims of Bush's rule and of their own failed conservative philosphy and do the right thing by voting for Obama.
I completely agree. You can see it from the poor trolling on this site today. Conservatives are seeing their whole ideology collapse under the weight of its failure and they don't know how to respond.

Release the Hounds !!!!
Yeah, I bet McCain is looking at an online poll where anyone who happens upon it may vote to decide whether to have a debate or not.
McCain and Palin have not suspended their fundraising events.
America needs a president who can multi-task.

Come on Greg. Remember that McCain has to nap. :-)

I'm tired of all the age bias.
Let's just wait....until you lose.
I was thinking maybe borrowing from Hendrix - "Think we better wait til tomorrow"
