Dawn Reporter Killed, Mass Protest Planned In Pakistan

Lahore-- Journalists across the country will convene tomorrow to protest the Sunday murder of a Lahore-based journalist.

30-year-old Tariq Malik Javed, a reporter from Dawn News, a news channel, was killed in Lahore Sunday at Defense Lahore by unknown assailants.

Javed was approached by the culprits and killed while foiling a cell phone robbery attempt.

Punjab Governor Salman Taseer ordered an immediate probe into the incident and the arrest of the culprits, according to media reports.

Leaders of different political parties condemned the incident and demanded the inquiry into the killing of the journalist.
