Harold Parmington was born and raised in Western Massachusetts, where he started studying Mandarin as a Junior High School student. After graduating from Columbia University with a BA in Economics, Harold moved to Beijing for two years to improve his Mandarin and work at a government relations consultancy advising MNCs and NGOs on their China policies. He recently moved back to New York and now works at an Asia-focused non-profit institution.
