Today we all should mourn with the Pakistani people, but tomorrow we, too, must rise up to support them and people of good will everywhere and try to put an end to using children as sacrifices to the bloodlust of terror.

Yesterday was another terrible day for children. The Pakistani Taliban murdered 132 school children in their classrooms and dozens more were injured, some of whom will not survive this massacre.

I am so very impressed by the bravery of these people... imagine the courage it took for some heavily armed grown men to barge into a school and shoot defenseless children cowering under their desks. These gunmen, all now dead, deserve medals for bravery and I am certain their colleagues and families are celebrating their glorious entry into heaven for this bravery.

What has happened to our world today?

What has changed to make it OK for grown, armed men to invade a school and mercilessly kill children who cannot defend themselves... or attack a school and take 250 girls away to be slaves and never to be heard from or seen again... or to take 45 schoolboys and execute them because you don't like the village they come from?

Sadly, if we study history, we learn that since time immemorial armies have captured or killed the children of opposing clans, cultures and nations in an attempt to stamp out their lineage. So it was for the Greeks, the Romans, the Huns, the Nazis and hundreds of other armies throughout history.

However, the overwhelming lesson learned is that this tactic has NEVER WORKED. More often than not it has stiffened the resolve of those whose children have been lost and so it must be now.

Today the Pakistani nation is in mourning for the loss of innocents, but tomorrow they must rise up as one and say, "Enough is enough," and as one nation go forward with the greater resolve that these lost lives can give them to destroy those who would destroy their children.

Today we all should mourn with the Pakistani people, but tomorrow we, too, must rise up to support them and people of good will everywhere and try to put an end to using children as sacrifices to the bloodlust of terror.
