So Hillary Clinton performed the "full Ginsberg,' appearing on all five major TV yak shows on Sunday. Surely, in almost two hours of television blather, she must have mentioned her commitment to the recovery of New Orleans and an accelerated restoration of Louisiana's coastal wetlands. I must have just missed it. Couldn't watch 'em all. Still, major national disaster. I'm assured by her supporters that she's committed. I'm sure you caught it.

ADDENDUM: Several commenters have contributed to an unfortunate stereotype of liberals as weak and whiny, responding to my post with the excuse, on behalf of Sen. Cllinton, that "they didn't ask her about Katrina". As excuses go, that's on a par with John Kerry's reported explanation for why he didn't immediately respond to the S wift Boat attacks on his military record: "I wanted to, but my staff wouldn't let me". Anyone who's been around the talk-show universe, especially the Sunday morning pseudo-serious division, understands one cardinal fact about the exercise: your job is not to answer the questions you're asked, your job is to say what you came there to say and make it sound as if you're answering the questions you're asked. I'm assuming Senator Clinton has been around the block sufficiently often not to need coaching on this score, but some of her supporters might, if they're not consciously choosing the appearance of naivete over the admission of their heroine's omission.
