The Tookie Curfew

I've already opined that the Tookie Williams story was getting over-covered as a celebrity spectacle, but then there's this: All three cable news nets were wall-to-wall Williams following the execution (CNN with its International feed), until suddenly, at 5 a.m. ET, they all pulled the plug. Simultaneously, they seem to have decided that the early-morning viewers (an increasingly large ratings segment) didn't want to hear about the med tech's fifteen-minute search for a vein. Fox and CNN thought the more appropriate choice was a rerun of, literally, yesterday's news, Brit Hume and Anderson (emo) Cooper.
