Timing is Everything

Can't they ever get it right? On tonight's NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams replayed his opening words from two years ago, then added that the last words, "not as destructive as predicted" was before the levees breached, "that night". Moments later, NBC New Orleans Bureau Chief Martin Savidge said bells rang in New Orleans today at approximately 9:30 a.m., the "moment the first levee breached."

More than a year ago, Ivor van Heerden's book The Storm, reported that levees on the Industrial Canal breached, sending a wall of water into the lower 9th ward, at 5:30 in the morning, a fact confirmed just this week by the US Army Corps of Engineers itself.

UPDATE: A source at NBC News told me the Nightly News was corrected in the later feeds for western time zones.
