Thank goodness I don't have to point out the grotesque, egregiously inaccurate summation of federal response to the flooding of New Orleans contained in President Bush's Monday news conference. Fortunately, Stephanie Grace in the Times-Picayune has done the research, and lets Republicans--Bush's former homeland security advisor and the GOP-led House Homeland Security Committee--rebut the Republican President. Even while the rest of the country may have not noticed Bush's parting insult, New Orleans sure got the message.

You are a great entertainer Harry but you are sadly mistaken if you think Obama is going to do anything different in NOLA. The sad fact is that there is no rational reason to spend huge amounts of money to rebuild and/or protect NOLA. I'm sure Atlantis was a great place but its time also passed.
BobLablah.....How many times in New Orleans history has a Hurricane totally destroyed New Orleans?
The destruction occurred because the LEVYS were not built to withstand a disaster of this magnitude, and they were an INFRASTRUCTURE neglected and deteriorated and long past the need for repair and modernizing.
There are FAR MORE Cities in our country that are in areas prone to all kinds of natural disasters year after year...and our country DOES help and DOES rebuild...year after year.
You are mighty cavalier about a great American City and all the people who lived there, had homes there and all other Americans who have loved going to New Orleans on vacation for it's unique American culture.
So much for your CAN DO American spirit.
Sacramento, CA for one.
Please. It's levee, not levy.
43% of American counties are protected by levees.
Is yours one of them? Who designed them? Who inspects them? Are you no safer than New Orleans?
That is a pretty callous attitude to take toward another person's home.
Unless, of course, you plan to offer more than criticism.
Where are the people supposed to go?

Atlantis didn't exist.
Atlanta didn't exist either after a couple of days, when the gas from Louisiana ran out. Literally in a few hours every tank at every pump went completely dry.
Now I agree with on state legislator recently who recommends we sell our natural resources on the open market. Then we could afford whatever flood protection we want. And when the rest of the Nation needs some of their 20% energy from Louisiana again, they can pay for it like everyone else. And we can also charge more for every piece of freight that comes through our world class port.
We can take care of ourselves but I don't think these other folks are going to enjoy it.
