Holiday for Destruction

Friends, acquaintances, countrymen, and assorted fellow humans. This is my first attempt at political poetic expression. I don't know what it is, but it tasted alright this morning with my coffee.

Holiday for Destruction

Have a cup of what the green zone pilot's drinkin' today.
We need more contractors buildin' walls, keepin' evil at bay.
All these mudpie scarfing po' folks makin' so much racket.
Single crop seeds, this season's nuevo smallpox blanket.
Collecting royalties from what earth gives free for us all,
We can always find the money to let precision bombs fall.
Long after our homes have been snatched up or burned,
Curtain to annihilation, a continent's indigenous spurned,
With a Columbus day sales event, it's not hard to select
Delightful new hybrids, gas prices won't so harshly effect
Our talent to be hypnotized, buy now. I confess,
I wonder what new holidays we'll use to celebrate death.
We arm and re-arm them with deadly hand-me downs.
A billion dollars worth of weapons prop up a dictator's crown.
Shimmerin' propaganda, the global media hip.
Sip, salute, sip, murder, murder, sip.
Patriotism, obedience, please keep the dangers away.
These colors don't run, they starve and punish, but hey
My lapel pin shows support as fighter pilots fly and fly.
Does it make a difference if you died for a lie?
You can dress our Constitution with economic subjugation.
Imaginery freedom, & weapons of mass disinformation.
Under our peaceful veneer, our toys turn cities to dust.
Pride cometh 'fore the fall, add in hypocrisy and lust.
False prophets of profit curing symptoms give me pause,
Cuz we've poured our brains into perpetuating the cause.
