Mothers and food are like love and marriage. It's almost impossible to have one without the other. Some of the fondest memories we carry are centered around food, childhood and our mothers. They play an integral role in our nutrition habits because their beliefs are ingrained into us at an early age. To this day, I use the essential nutrition advice that my mom bestowed upon me. Growing up, I was always the kid who wolfed down my food, finishing before anyone else. At the rate I ate, you'd think I came from a family of 12! I can still hear my mother's voice urging me to slow down and enjoy my meal. She simply wanted me to practice mindful eating.
