Last November, I released a video entitled "One Woman A Cappella Disney Medley," and it received more attention than I had ever dreamed of. I started making YouTube videos when I was 16 (I'm now 18), and none of them had ever gotten as much of a response as my Disney medley. It was an extremely humbling experience. With nearly 700,000 views and 20,000 new subscribers, I figured that maybe I was on to something. The question was: What next? How do I follow up something like that?
Then one day my friend suggested, "Why don't you do more Adele? I always read your comments and everyone requests Adele." Instantly, the glittery gears in my head started turning.
Adele made quite a splash in the music industry this year, and her album 21 deserved every single award it won, including six Grammys, three AMAs, and two Brit awards. She is an absolutely brilliant and incredibly inspiring woman. So I thought to myself, "Why not make a new medley celebrating that?"
Immediately, I set out to find more information about the British icon, only to realize that her birthday fell right around the time that I had envisioned releasing the video. I thought, "Perfect. I can make it a gift to her, paying tribute to everything she has accomplished this year."
After spending at least an hour everyday for past four months either recording, mixing, styling, filming or editing what I wanted to be the very best present I could possibly give her, last Saturday, May 5 -- on Adele's 24th birthday -- I finally unveiled my project to the Internet. My sincerest hope is that I did Adele, a woman that has inspired me and millions of people across the world, even a bit of justice.
