I am NOT Gay.

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Larry Craig isn't gay. Thank god cuz we don't really want him to be. Ick. Now that he has told the country that he isn't gay in a press conference, I am so relieved.

I don't want him to be gay because he is such a pathetic figure. Bearing his outrage but not his shame before the cameras today. Fine Senator. Don't be gay. There are lots of people who don't identify as gay but DO have sex with guys (or women) sometimes. But those people usually don't have the power to pursue discriminatory laws against gays and lesbians or promote hostile viewpoints towards us in the halls of Congress. We all have enough information about how hypocritical it would be if someone like Senator Craig were to actually BE gay and vote in such an anti-gay manner. I won't bother making that point since I frankly don't think voting to hurt people is justified no matter what your sexual orientation.

Ironically on the LGBT blogs and "insider lists" today there was a huge discussion about whether or not Senator Craig should garner some sympathy from the community because of the historic antipathy that exists towards police entrapment methods against, particularly, gay men.

But seeing his performance, I have lost any notion of sympathy. The guy practically SPIT it out that he wasn't gay. Because if he WAS gay, then that would somehow explain his publicly lewd behavior.

Like I said, ick.

Well, I don't have any comments about 69.

However, I will observe that if the gay club kicked out all "pathetic figures" it would be a much smaller club. No, I'm not a homophobe, but it seems you are suggesting some kind of "racial cleansing"? Remember YOUR by-words: inclusion, value diversity, tolerance, blah blah blah ...

You also aren't queer...so you don't get a voice in OUR community.

No, it wouldn't be much smaller. It would have to include zero members for someone like you to be tolerant of it. Of course, you're a homophobe - a homophobe without the courage to admit it.

From Wikipedia:

- In October 2005, Craig suggested that flooded sections of New Orleans should be abandoned after Hurricane Katrina had hit and said that "Fraud is in the culture of Iraqis. I believe that is true in the state of Louisiana as well." Craig was quoted as saying in a local paper.

.

Classic case of self hatered, deflected towards others.

"I am not gay. I never have been gay."

I'll have to agree with him on this one. "Gay" is a term that I, as a gay man, use for the "out and proud." The word for self-loathing creeps is "queer" and I say that with all the disdain I can muster.

I'm going to beat the Republican trolls to the punch and say why didn't Craig just use Clinton's line, when asked about smoking pot?

Yeah, he did have it in his mouth, he just didn't inhale.

The GOP believes sexual orientation is a choice, like choosing which shoes to wear. They believe homosexuality is a sin and so they pray for release from their affliction. They can't bring themselves to admit it's biological, not a choice.

I met a guy named Stan who was finishing seminary school and was gay. He said it was God's special calling for him, to give him this love for other men and have him fight it his whole life and preach to others how to fight it. Ridiculous, but that's how the Republicans are.

Yes. Craig is just ick-making and low class.
He's owes an apology to any gay to whom he gave offence with his statement that he's not gay.
Nobody cares about his sexual orientation.
His behaviour is what is at issue.
He's a putz.

Maybe it was nothing, but I was in a ladies room just today and a woman in the stall next to me asked for toilet paper. I gave it to her. Was she trying to tell me something?

I don't care whether they're gay or straight, men in general are dopey.

Do lesbians resorts to such antics? Is there body language in the ladies room to detect another's intentions? Perahaps three knocks on the tampon machine indicates something? Anyone...

Having been in a few lesbian and mixed gay/lesbian bars with womyn using the men's room due to long lines, I've never seen womyn cruise restrooms. If it happens it must be awfully subtle.

But you gotta admit - the fights at lesbian bars are some real knock down drag outs.

I certainly find if difficult to believe that he's not gay. People who are not gay don't have sex or solicit sex from the same sex in public bathrooms. The fact that he did proves what his is denying!

There ARE men nearer the heterosexual end of the spectrum who don't mind a bit of quick relief, and restroom sex is a very easy way to get it. No date. No breakfast. No names exchanged. Get in. Get off. Get out. It's really cheap on many levels -- unless the police catch the guys. Then there's real hell to pay.

As for Mr. Craig, in my book he's merely the sort of scumbag I expect many publicans really are at heart. He's victimized his family, those who voted for him, and every non-heterosexual in the US. If he had any dignity, he'd apologize, resign, and be ashamed to be seen in public for the rest of his life.

Good post and true. He needs to resign and stay out of the public arena for good.

Sexual Hypocrites like Craig only serve to demonstrate what a horrible place of self-loathing the closet can be.

The irony now, is that this man was and is being punished for being gay? Do you seriously want him to come out now?? This goes to the heart of practiced gay behavior over the many decades, people had to meet in bathrooms, sports clubs, gyms because bars and strip clubs where straight people meet to want to do the same think weren't and in many places stilll aren't availble to gays.

He already has issues, and coming from a people that are suppose to be compassionate, all there is , is "nah nah nah nah nah nah"
He might be a hypocrite or man in serious denial, but in this age of confusion, we are all in denial in soo many areas.

First, why is this bathroom GAY conduct, considered LEWD CONDUCT??? What the heck are all these straight and hollywood people doing in club bathrooms, i've seen videos. Even, Romney calls this gay behaviour, disgusting? But this is where closeted gay men always had to meet, bathrooms, parks, gyms, movies, baseball games. The fact that this considered lewd conduct, is where the real issue is, WHY was this man punished, for acting gay and flirting? for being gay???? Its obsence and now Craig is getting it from both sides....

Not being gay, I don't understand the gay community's willingness to defend having sex in public toilets as normal behavior, and I can see why people who use public bathrooms might be justifiably upset being exposed to people having sex in a public toilet.

I'm gay and I don't defend gays having sex in bathrooms, it's about the nastiest enviroment I can think of to engage in sex. I will point out I've seen heterosexuals all but penetrating each other on beaches, rolling around on a blanket, and seen real displays of straights fornicating at hotel pools and hot tubs which are public....so don't make this about gay or straight there are inappropriate behaviors in both sexual orientations.

Except that straight men are about a thousand times more likely to rape someone than gay men are.

Some good points Qbear:

Also, has anyone mentioned that saying you are not gay in a manner that says you find it dispicable and are loathed by it, is about the same as saying, "I'm not a father" even tho you have kids, but loath at those who are fathers..??

I haven't noticed others calling press conferences and declaring they are heterosexual. Are they ashamed? Lastly, why would it be necessary to make an official announcement one way or the other?? (anyone care to answer one or any of these?)

Thanks Qbear
Lenni

As a Gay man, I don't defend having sex in a public toilet. Please! These are the unhappy folks who have been brainwashed over the years that even though they are gay, they have to live a closeted existence because of society's intolerence of the lifestyle. If every gay person stood up and said they were gay, you'd see a real change in this country. It takes courage in America to come out especially in places between the coasts.

Source please. The gay "community" doesn't condone sex in public restrooms (note: we'd never actually do it IN the toilet). Even if you gave me an hour to clean a public restroom with 18 bottles of bleach...it aint happening. :)

With all that toe-tapping, hand sliding and shoe rubbing under the stall, remind me never to listen to a happy tune on my IPOD while doin' my business. I've been gay almost 50 years and did not know these "gay" signs of solicitation. But then I don't cruise bathrooms. The entrapment police have a lot to teach me.

NO gay man whether he ever engages in sex in a restroom or not, would FAIL to recognise being cruised.
NO straight man in a stall that someone's foot is invading, and a hand comes under the divider wouldn't mistake that for anything but what it is,,,a come on.

QBEAR. Relax.

My reply was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I chuckled at the notion that what Craig did was offered by the police as a DEFINITIVE telltale sign that gay men the world over use to proposition strangers for sex, and that all gays somehow signed off on it and use it. I like to use "Would you like to come to my place?"

My larger point being, Craig never asked for/offered any money or even acknowledged in words (both requried for a solicitation charge). Now, based on the police report, they could - stretching it, get him for peeping; but then why not stand up open the door and say, "I'm arresting you for peeping at me through the stall."

I quote the police report here in my hometown on Minneapolis
"According to the police report, first obtained by Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper that disclosed the episode and the guilty plea on Monday, "the incident began with Mr. Craig’s peering into the undercover officer’s stall several times through the crack in the door." PEEK A BOO I SEE YOU. YUCK.. And to think we get to host the republican convention in 2008.
