Lies, Cont.

Carol Platt Liebau's post today on lying Democrats showed up a little before the BBC report (at 11a.m. EST) that President Bush's Veteran's Day speech later on Friday will essentially say the same thing.

So that's the new message the party must be sending out to the faithful; to be repeated everywhere including (if possible) on progressive or left-leaning websites. Except, of course, it's disinformation or at best, misinformation. It matters not whether Bill Clinton or any other Democrat believed that Saddam Hussein was bad, was looking to develop WMD, or was even in possession of them. What matters is that few sane people, with the exception of members of the Bush administration and those who went along with their plans, believed that a full scale invasion and occupation of Iraq was in order.

The only way the administration could get most Americans on board for war, from Congress to the average Joe, was to grossly exaggerate (if not knowingly lie) about a direct threat that Saddam Hussein posed to the security of the United States. It's as simple as that, and I'm sorry Ms. Liebau et al, but no amount of Republican Party propaganda will change the facts.
