Obama supports pay HRC's debt? Surely you jest!

According to the New York Times, high rolling Obama supporters have contributed a mere 100k toward the Clinton debt relief effort.

The smaller donors (of which I am one) have not yet been asked.

Did anyone really think it would be otherwise? Clinton broke the modern rules of running for president. When you run out of money you either fly coach (see John McCain), or drop out (see Joe Biden). You don't rack up a big debt expecting someone to bail you out after the fact. Isn't that part of the arrogance that allowed for Hillary's being upset in the first place?

The second rule she broke is that when you are a significant party figure and have virtually no chance of winning the delegate count, you drop out. Clinton had virtually no chance for months after Obama's long string of wins following Super Tuesday. The only way Clinton could have won is if something really bad happened to Obama or his campaign and as a result the super delegates overturned the results. Sure Reagan stayed in in 1976, and Kennedy stayed in in 1980. How did that work out for their parties? This is why it was so important for Hillary to know when to say when. Clinton didn't. Only lessor known and fringe figures can stay longer without much impact (see Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul).

Maybe money isn't an issue for some folk. However, for me and my house, my contributions to Obama have meant giving up something else. I am not crying "poor me" -- my family is blessed. Nevertheless, times are hard. Having Clinton supporters suggest they may not support Obama if HRC is not shown "Godfather"-style respect is not motivating me or anyone else to dig deeper.

There is a convention to be funded and a general election to be fought. Obama supporters pay Hillary's debt? As my fourth grade teacher may have said: Surely you jest!
