Alan Blum, MD, is director, The University of Alabama Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society and was the lone witness to testify at both the Senate and House hearings on the FDA tobacco bill.

Officially, the FDA commissioner position is vacant. But symbolically at least, the new commissioner is the Marlboro Man.
