Alan Grayson's Candor and Honesty Irks GOP Obstructionists... Again

What's Your Reaction?

I know the difference between angry and mad. And when it comes to outspoken Orlando freshman Alan Grayson, Republicans are both. He's been the bane of their -- and their big donors'-- existence on the House Financial Services Committee, where he's been working effectively to put a crimp in a status quo that has presided over a concentration of wealth in this country that leaves the top 1% with more assets than the "bottom" 90%. Grayson came to Congress promising to be a tribune for working Florida families. What drives Republicans mad is that he has been exactly that.

Yesterday he was up on the floor of Congress calling out the GOP on their health care obstructionism. (See video above.) And did they flip out! GOP morning shill, Joe Scarborough, had reactionary sidekicks Pat Buchanan and Mika Brzezinski, comparing Grayson's well-reasoned and factual assault on Republican Party well-coordinated anti-working family obstructionism with the disgraceful outburst from secessionist lunatic Joe Wilson (R-SC). Some of the most extremist partisans among the obstructionist caucus took Grayson's criticism personally -- which makes sense. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), whose ProgressivePunch voting score since President Obama was elected is a big fat zero-- extreme even for the fringe Republicans -- demanded an apology. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), another goose-egg extremist-- with unanswered questions about a gay Republican triple homicide in Orlando involving one of his now dead "associates" -- was up early this morning tweeting away, demanding Speaker Pelosi call a vote to reprimand him.

If Grayson made one mistake, it was blaming only Republicans for the way Congress is treating American families in the health care debate. Sure, every single Republican is catering to the special interests who line their pockets and fill their campaign coffers. But perhaps Grayson should have found a way of mentioning that it isn't just 100% of Republicans -- who, by the way, have often said that the Democratic plans for reform will kill granny, etc. -- but that there are also a significant number of corrupt, bribe-besotted Democrats -- from Max Baucus and Blanche Lincoln to most of the Blue Dog caucus -- who also are trampling on the aspirations of working people in our country. Elijah Cummings stood up for Grayson to the vampiric Mika this morning. Georgia goofball Tom Price is introducing some kind of cockamamie resolution to condemn him.

Today might be a great time to donate to Alan Grayson's campaign fund. Aside from being one of Congress' best overall members, let's keep in mind that the real reason Republicans do want people to die is because the funeral industry is a big source of funds for the GOP! Of all the current sitting senators who have gotten money from the funeral industry, McCain is #1, Alexander Lamar is #2 and Lindsey Graham is #3. Over in the House, Republican leaders Mike Pence (IN), Roy Blunt (MO), David Dreier (CA) are among the top recipients. And yes, Blackburn and McHenry have both taken money from the funeral industry. Grayson hasn't. Let's get Grayson's back.

We need more like Alan Grayson. He is the one who will receive admiration and contributions for standing up to the republicans. Unfortunately, the rest of the democrats have sat there and have done nothing. Really sad that most of the other democrats have let the republicans get away with so many lies and BS. Sad the republicans get away with disrespecting our president and the democrats aren't willing to take a stand and fight back.

I LOVED the courage and truth from Grayson. The Republicas (as I am going to call them ) since they leave off the ending to the DemocratIC party as a dog whistle to their constituents. Calling democrats the Democrat party is a subtle put down, disrespecting us by refusing to use our chosen name.

I LOVE THIS GUY! Finally, someone who does not pussyfoot around about the obstructionist tactics of the ReFuglycans and the fact that they stand for the corporate interests of the health insurance industry and against the well being of average American citizens! More power too him!

Through his candor, Alan Grayson has done the unthinkable: he threw elephant dung into the faces of the GOP obstructrionists and told them the dung has hit the fan.

Wow, I just watched his situation room appearance. This guy is the real deal. Why does HP drop his story when his voice is pivotal, and may be the one that gets the PO into legislation?

Why is no one able or willing to just speak the truth, that both sides are equally guilty of lying, and of telling inconvenient truths that no one wants to face?

I've been watching montages of all of the rhetoric coming out of these hearings, and I am finding it hard to find examples where people have lied. They may have used inflamatory passionate language, but the core message behind that language is going to be true for someone, individual or family

So while everyone else is complaining about the levels of passion and rhetoric, we really should be looking at the core of the messages

NO APOLOGIES!!! Mr. Grayson thank you, if anything apologize for the use of the word holocaust in order to avoid any distraction from the super sensitive americans. But, NO APOLOGIES for what they have been promoting over and over in regards to health care reform.

WE SUPPORT YOU!!! PLEASE KEEP PANDERING THOSE CORRUPTED POLITICIANS.

So let the thugs be irked....strange how they can not take a dose of their own behavior when it comes at them. And they were not called names really...just the innuendos. Thank goodness for Alan Grayson...he at least as the "stuff" it takes. And Boehner can cry his little ole eyes right into oblivion.

Unfortunately, I am not in Grayson's district (i live in Orlando), but I will contact and send money to him. He is the only democrat with some balls. The rest like Harry Reid and Pelosi are crooks. I disagreed with Keith Olbermann and Arianna. Why was he wrong to use the word Holocaust. Holocaust is not exclusive to only to the Nazis. It means "a mass slaughter of people", which is what the insurance companies are doing. So layoff, we finally have a politician who is speaking the truth.
02:40 PM on 10/01/2009
Wow! By your standard of Holocaust abortion becames "a mass slaughter
of people". I don't know what ins. co. has killed 40 million. Links?

While I disagree with Grayson's politics I do believe he has a right and an obligation to speak his mind. I would like to see both sides of the aisle start to put away the politics and start doing what is right in thier eyes for America. We could then decide who and what policies we wanted as Americas. Right now we have politicians who only want to get thier opponents in gotcha's.

So, you disagree with Grayson. Does that mean you are for people dying because they can't afford to line the pockets of insurers? I think you have no understanding of what really goes on in insurance companies. And you will not, until you personally become their (thier) victim. Of course then it will be too late. And who knows how many others will have died.
