We are witnessing one of humanity's most unbearable tragedies following the earthquake in Haiti. It allows us to ask: Is this as much a story about poverty and failed governance as it is of natural disasters? Will we take the opportunity to show human compassion and empathy?
And then other questions arise: Will bankers ever learn the evils of their ways? Is the Banking Commission a kangaroo court? Is it true that the only thing wrong with capitalism is capitalists? Are we witnessing socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor? The worship of free markets or a complete betrayal? And lastly: will the Massachusetts special election make the difference between a health care plan or dissolution of that dream?
