Arianna and Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive appeared on The Joy Behar show Thursday night to talk about Sleep Challenge 2010, a challenge to women to start getting the sleep that they need.
Both Arianna and Cindi explained why the challenge is a feminist issue. "We need to do success differently, we women," Arianna explained, "not by driving ourselves into the ground, not by walking through our days like zombies, but by actually being creative, being productive when we are not sleep deprived."
One sleep tip Arianna offered: Never have your blackberry, cell phone, or other devices charging near you when you sleep.
Cindi pointed to the weight maintenance benefits of a full night of rest.

Go to bed at a regular set time all of the time. Eliminate as many distractions as possible from your sleep area. Try to sleep at night when it's dark and when humans sleep best, but if you can't because of work or other reasons, make the room as dark as you can. Get regular exercise but not to a state of exhaustion. Eat healthy foods and drink water instead of caffeine and sodium laden soft drinks. If you're constantly fatigued, even after sleeping for eight hours, you might have a physical condition (potentially life threatening) preventing you from getting good sleep. Visit a sleep professional to help you pinpoint and rectify the problem.
