Arianna sat down with Jim Stengel to discuss his new book, "Grow: How Ideals Power Growth and Profit at the World's Greatest Companies."
"My favorite quote in the book is that 'Maximum growth and high ideals are not incompatible -- they're inseparable'," Arianna said. "And I love that because so often business people and the world at large separate the two. They feel if you're going to be a hard-driving businessman or businesswoman, your concern is just the bottom line and everything else is a distraction. And the heart of your book, and why I was so moved by it, is that that's not true."
Arianna and Jim also discussed how business leaders can take the lessons from his book and apply them to their work:
"For leaders today to lead effectively, they have to think like brand managers," Stengel said. "Great brand managers think about what is their brand's reason for being, what is their connection emotionally with each other and with customers and all partners. So this is really at the core of the book, and it's the most powerful thing I think we have in business."
