Arianna Discusses The Debt Ceiling Deal With Piers Morgan (VIDEO)

Posted: 08/02/11 12:25 AM ET

Arianna appeared Monday on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight' to discuss the recent deal to increase the nation's debt ceiling.

"Here we have a major crisis in this country, we have a growth crisis, which means a jobs crisis and a debt crisis. We do not have a debt ceiling crisis, that was a completely manufactured crisis that we spent an enormous amount of time and energy trying to resolve," explained Arianna.

The larger problem, Arianna said, is that "there are an enormous amount of people in this country, Democrats and Republicans, who don't think that this deal is making the economy better."

And Arianna is right-on about what should (have) happen(ed). Also, I'd add - revenue from big corps and the rich. But the powers that be don't even consider that now, it seems. It's a one party corporatocracy with a small minority of progressives in the Dem camp and Bernie (I) complaining, as the c.tocracy keeps the Shock Doctrine, Milton Friedman, voodoo-economic charade going.

It's amazing what a difference a few days make.

"If only they raise the debt limit, the economy will improve." We raised the debt ceiling and the economy tanked. It is only what we deserve for listening to liberal economic advice.

Piers Morgan is about as interesting as day old oatmeal. He seems to have found a new home in the US where he probably hopes to avoid arrest for him criminal activities while working for Murdoch's News of the World tabloid in the UK. A good number of his former colleagues have already been arrested for phone hacking, bribing police and other crimes. Piers may think that as long as he stays in the US the Met will not be able to get their hands on him, in spite of his admitting knowledge of the phone hacking in his book. Evidently no one noticed this admission because the 21 non-family members who actually read it missed this passage.

Arianna is the only honest voice in the media right now. The talking heads all played along with this crisis to boost ratings by creating a catastrophe. The real crisis will be the impact of this so-called deal.

These two parties who argue so bitterly are united in working for their corporate sponsors above eveything else which is really all that matters.

This statement focuses on the real problem with the last budget rounds, "The larger problem, Arianna said, is that "there are an enormous amount of people in this country, Democrats and Republicans, who don't think that this deal is making the economy better."

The debt ceiling being raised was never intended to make the economy better. It's purpose was to pay the bills. Everything else was just right wing hyperbole.

Before the 2 parties debate any issue, they should first determine and agree on the facts or numbers they are going to use.  They always seem to be talking from 2 different sets of data and then diverge wildly from there.

I think this is right on primp the pump has worked in the past with the economy the reason it has taken some time to work this time is the Republican have put so many leaks in the system the deregulation of the banks which gave short tern relief but a what cost to the economy as a whole. Corporate welfare and unfunded wars with tax cuts put us in this mess. The Tea party is a group who do not under our economy and are trying to remake the country who has in the past produced the greatest economy in the world but who has shot it self in the foot and they unintendedly are going to kill the patient with it cure.

No she does not. She is just adding more hyperbole to a system that is up to its ears in hyperbole. Not once does she mention a specific solution.

The plan passed by House and soon by Senate cuts 2.4 Trillion dollars over 10 (TEN) years.
Most cuts are in out-years. Hence a future Congress may change the cuts, specially military.

This fiscal year the fiscal cuts are 20 billion or 0.02 Trillion.
This fiscal year the budget BORROWS 1.6 Trillion.
This fiscal year the interest on the debt is 0.24 Trillion

So we're still playing with smoke and mirrors.
While liberals in the media are screaming "the sky is falling".
And the yet-to-be-born Americans are continued to be scr*wed.
