Arianna appeared on MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow" show Thursday night to discuss President Bush's farewell address to the nation, which took place earlier in the evening. When asked by Maddow what the big headline from the speech was, Arianna suggested paraphrasing Paul Simon: "Still Delusional After All These Years."

Its amazing what you can get away with when suffer the level of 'disconnect' that Bush and his cronies do.

we have to do something to these people. I remind you of the iran contra scandal, we looked forward and forgot all about it, until bush took office and brought them all back again, if we dont go after these people and at least make their deeds a matter of public record they will be back again. We need to go after theese people not just to keep others from doing the same but to make sure these people dont get a chance again.

Bush cannot be left off the hook so easily. Sorry there, big guy. You can't just get up from the table and walk away. We have some settling of accounts we gotta do.

We just watched the documentary "Standard Operating Procedure" which details the Abu Ghraib prison humiliations and tortures, as recounted by those military personnel who were relieved of their duties or served time for their dishonorable conduct. After watching this disgraceful behavior perpetrated by our men and women in uniform, sanctioned by those above them in rank, I hope we can some day soon, indict those who were truly in charge of this travesty (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfovitz, and yes Bush) and hope to see some justice once and for all.

We cannot move on as a country until the world learns the truth behind who and what got us into Iraq, and what happened to us as a country once we found ourselves burdened with Iraq.

I fully agree.
We have to hold this entire Bush administration accountable.
Unfortunately a lot of those crimes have been committed with the approval of Congress.
But still some crimes were committed by the Bush administration only, so let's go after them.

I fully aggree with your sentiments, When people say we must look forward and not at the past, I laugh. How on earth can we look forward without repairing the past. Bush and co need to be charged for all the missdeeds that they perpertrated against the American people. if we don't make an example of them, other polititions will be emboldend to do the same. They shouldn't be able to walk away and tell the world they did a good job

27%? Huh...I thought that it was 22%. Whatever, I imagine that positive ratings are from people who have made $$ during the dumbing down of America - i.e. defense contractors, civilian military workers, & of course the right wingnuts like Coulter, Rush, Hannity, Hasselbeck (of The View) - you know, folks that actually profited from the rest of America's suffering.

Funny (and sad) as it may sound, most of that 22% is people that totally suffered under this regime.

What I find amusing is the number of times bush has said history will be the judge long after he is dead. Unless he plans on dying soon, I seriously doubt it will take that long. More and more info will surface as O cleans house and some who were privy to the bush inner sanctum will be writing their "memoirs".
We have yet to see the full extent of the bush admin's corruption and I for one will looking forward to his explanations as a mic is shoved in his face as each tidbit comes out.

It's time to put history to rest..he doesn't get it and all we can do is say "good riddance" and
"adios" and don't let the door......! 8 LOOONNNG Years and finally he exits, but we WILL NEVER forget. www.goodbyegeorgew.com

I have three friends who defend Bush to varying degrees:

One says he did the right things (works for defense contractor and tries to get intelligent design taught in public schools);

one says he meant well, but was a disaster because he is too simple and too dumb (a liberal who works for defense contractor)

one who says he's done nothing right except one thing: he kept the nation together after 9/11. (no sure of his political moorings)

All think he "kept us safe". There are many in the country (not me) who believe that he actually helped us through a tough time. I think they believe this because they have not examined the evidence carefully as most Americans don't.

They have forgotten Richard Clarke who warned us and was utterly brushed off. The have forgotten that Bush LED the attach on Iraq and specifically worked to avoid ALL diplomatic settlements.
They have forgotten that the Administration actively blocked the 9/11 Commission's efforts to get to the bottom of "why it happened" and if it were not for the efforts of Kristen Breitweiser and other 9/11 widows, who lost her husbands in the towers, very little would have been done.

It his hubris, pure and simple. We are being tested for stupidity and gullibility and are passing with flying colors.

According to CBS and NYTimes **Mr. Bush's final approval rating is the lowest final rating for an outgoing president since Gallup began asking about presidential approval more than 70 years ago.**J anuary 17, 2009

I agree totally with Arianna that Bush is delusional. The ironic thing though is I believe his eight years of failures created such a vacuum that the environment was ripe for Obama to become President. It made us so hungry for change and someone who actually is intelligent that race and experience and even social issues became irrelevant. So hopefully, if the damage is not too great, Obama can lead us out of this mess. Then someday perhaps we can thank Bush for inadvertantly turning the country back to sensibility.

(I have to get in my last knocks before Tuesday...)
I have a theory that the more desperate bush defenders are showing a behavior similar to some of those unfortunate victims who are in abusive marriages or other partnerships.

They're deceived, cheated on, degraded, neglected, promised and lied to and ignored.
They really don't want to stay, and at the same time, they're terrified of leaving because they don't believe they can do any better.

They've been conditioned to think being treated badly is normal, and that in the whole world-
only the abuser understands them, only the abuser can D E C I D E what basic needs should be met, only the abuser D E C I D E S how much pain can be endured, and only the abuser's voice is heard...
and yet, when the opportunity to do something about CHANGING the situation comes along-

many of these sad cases vehemently deny there's anything wrong at all,
and will fiercely DEFEND the abuser against any criticism.

And the abuser thinks he's/she's ALWAYS right and just... misunderstood.

How easily dems forget Lyndon B. Johnson and Jimmy Carter when they talk about "worst President ever". Why, you would think that neither of those democrats were EVER in office to hear today's neodems talk.

I have not forgotten Johnson or Carter but face reality. Niether of them left our country in the almost irrepairable condition that George W. Bush leaves in his wake. Sorry, hands-down the worst President by far.
