The reason you don't see the tea party so much right now is they added 62 members to the house last election so they are doing it from the inside, but you will see them again.

Without the tea party, those 600,000 public jobs wouldn't have been lost.

Without the financial backing of K-Brothers, Tea Party would've been an insignificant political force.

They did not start it, they co-opted it. I started it.

It started to take off when Dick Armey supported it financially.

He just came out against military spending too, so I feel quite hopeful about the future. The Tea Party was my idea and I was glad when he started promoting it, because I knew without the support of guys like him, it never would have gotten anywhere. We could not break through the media cone of silence without the help of guys like him.

It has been very successful. The Tea Party did exactly what I wanted it to do, but now I have moved on to Occupy and I expect most of the more talented Tea Party leaders have moved on with me.

"all these 600,000 public sector jobs that have been cut under Obama have impacted" - GOP should be darn happy about it.
06:07 PM on 01/22/2012
Well Ariana, show we give public sector jobs to all the unemployed? If not there is no reason why the public employees should not share in the pain of those who have been out of work for years and recently lost 25% of their Fed heating assistance so the politicians can pander to "struggling middle class" voters.

Real total unemployment number is 18 Percent. Obama's economic policies are a failure.

600,000 public sector employees cut under Obama. Unemployment (in the last month) came down because more than an additional 200.000 people quit looking for work. The average period of unemployment is at a all time high more than 6 and one half months. When you include all the people who have been forced to take part time jobs the real number and all those people who have unsuccessfully applied for jobs in the last six months the government's number is over 15.1 percent. When you add the 2.1 percent of the workforce who have completely given up the real total unemployment number is 18 Percent.

None of you numbers are an, "all time high". Stop being hyperbolic. This kind of partisan hackery is what is ruining our country.

Correct, I should have said since the great depression. WOW now that makes Obama a success, his numbers are better than the depression.

If Mitt Romney Is going to Give Newt Gingrich The Slip at the Republican Convention; He`s going to have to expose Him as a Center Leaning "Party Pooper" Moderate. ( Sure Romney`s a Mormon/But Gingrich is a Catholic ) Let us recall How and Why Moderates like Gingrich were Pusher aside by the Right Wing rhetoric of the early Campaign. Romney`s consensus emergence as from the likes of Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry; Should not be taken as a trend towards Moderation. Americans have rejected The Administrations Laissez Faire Bleeding Heart Liberalism, and have reveled in the reactionary extremism of " The Tea Party" movement. Romney must now effort to make amends with Far Right; Or face the possibility of alienating himself from the Conservative Juggernaut.

The Tea Party is not a political party, but a group of people that have asked our government why they spend and waste so much of our tax money.

Oh. I thought the tea party formed because the black guy won. They didn't seem too upset when President Bush was destroying the economy and spending billions on his wars.

The Tea Party, and it's name did come after President Obama was in office, but the joining of like minded people about government spending was going on for a couple of years before that.......

sorry, it's not about Obama, but his policies.

Oh please, Barry Goldwater was not a racist. Is that the game you are going to be playing for the next six months?

Having lived in the 1960's, I can tell you that the Civil Rights Act was wanted by most people, it is the 'details', that some in Congress wanted discussed a bit more.

But, LBJ rushed it through after the Democratic Party filibustered it for weeks, without a real solid review by committee's. That's why he voted no. Racists sometimes are those who charge others with the name.

"Services are being cut, all these 600,000 public sector jobs that have been cut under Obama have impacted communities in a disproportionate way."

Arianna -- this is what the Republicans campaigned for -- more government job cuts. Now that they're cut, the Republicans districts are being effected. The postman, the city clerk, the court worker. These are government jobs and Everybody wanted those jobs cut. Now they're cut and those folks are on the unemployment rolls. You can't have it both ways.

exactly
the republican mantra that budget cuts creates jobs is a lie
the economy is being undercut by public sector job losses
without these cuts, the unemployment rate would be .5 percent less
09:08 PM on 01/22/2012
The Rethuglicants have said that Bush's spending on government services was Obama's, and wanted it cut. Now that they have forced these cuts in trade for even more necessary spending, they complain that Obama cut the people who provide these services and they want those services restored. Meanwhile, they use the number of the cuts to support the idea that our employment is not rebounding fast enough and blame that on Obama as well. There are names for people like the Rethuglicants, but I can't use them in polite company.

I thought she seemed out of her depth. And one of the men was kind of snappish at her. But I've never found her all that smart, in the sense of intellectual. I'm amazed she's parleyed her money into a big publishing empire of sorts.

Not to mention Obama`s 25% cut to energy assistance to the poor in favor of the "struggling middle class." Had Obama gone to the malls during the hiolidays, one can only hope that he would have reversed himself on the cuts to energy assistance and asked the middle class to share the sacrifice instead.

"real cuts" only worsen the situation. That is a right wing kind of comment that didn't appear when the Bush 2 administration was waging 2 unfunded wars and an unfunded drug prescription plan. As, well as using a surplus for tax cuts rather than cutting the deficit. Obama is in charge, so let's do real cuts to worsen the economy so that the GOP can win and add more deficits like they did under Reagan, Bush 2 and Bush 1. Obama has a lot of holes to fill created by Republican administrations and now we need to cut?
