Posted: 07/06/11 04:11 PM ET

Arianna Huffington spoke on Sky News about the launch of HuffPost UK and the current phone hacking scandal.

Arianna discussed the benefits of the new site, explaining that "a reader can come to our front page and be constantly updated on everything that's happening."

Regarding the phone hacking controversy, Arianna said, "It's really a recognition that there are no places left to hide. The hacking has been going on for years... But there is a new public outrage around it."

In order to improve this problem, Arianna suggested "real accountability, instead of just sending someone to jail and moving on."

It's a mess, I read hp since ..., and now UK, and I don't want read UK, I want read US version. But I'm in Europe .. every time I open hp I see the UK version. I delete coockies and other items after leaving browser automaticly. Why think people, who made content, that they know, what I want? Where is the freedom of the internet? It's a mess!

I'm so excited about the success and growth of the Huffingtonpost concept and vision, that I'm going to gush and trip all over myself in its praise. I've been mulling over the Huffpost concept, vision and success, and trying to understand its phenomenal popularity and success in expanding into different countries and cultures.

Let me be immodest to suggest a quotation to encapsulate the essence and spirit of Huffpost, something along the line akin to New York Times' "All the news that's fit to print".
Here's my suggestion:--

"[Huffingtonpost is] the nexus of all the news that matter,
to engage all the souls [or people] to stay in touch [or to interact]."

You heard this here first !!!

Great that we've got a UK version of the site. She was spot on about Brooks as well. Nice to see Mr Boulton maintaining his objectivity when the phone hacking subject was brought up...(ahem)

Welcome to the UK Huff!

I think that at the end of the day, it is much cheaper for the HuffingtonPost to run the way it does, than it is for a print newspaper to try and attract attention online. Inasmuch as a newspaper is a business with a bottom line, I think HP can be a real threat to the established papers. If a good story appears in the Daily Mail, it will also run on HP; but as far as I have read, the opposite is not true.

So long as the cheap shot headlines cease, and content that lacks emotion it should be ok.

Just what we need, a competitor to the Daily Mail. Good luck !
