I get so frustrated when people arguing Arriana's point don't simply quote all the diplomatic experts who are certain that Obama's response has been perfect - why not ask these idiots what they want to add fuel to Achmadinjahd's rhetoric - do they really think the insurgents don't know whose side we are on? and aren't the insurgents on record as not wanting us to verbally support them? Have they no sense of what we have done in the past re: Moussadegh and how we are looked on as meddlers in their politics?
I love these republicans and their newly acquired sense of what is being on the right side of history. If the republicans are against Obama's staying quiet on this then I know the president is doing the right thing. What the hell do Pence, McCain and the rest of the right wing sqwakers know about foreign relations? They know nothing.
Regardless of the election and the winner, When the people of Iran and any other muslim nations realize that the real foe to progress is the theocratic dictators who dogmas and laws are the major obstacles to any type of reform. It is also time for the right wingers who want to take sides in the strife begin to understand where the ultimate power rests in Iran. We foolishly removed the secular head of state in Iraq in favor of the theocratic Shiites whose dogmas and laws trump common sense. The right wingers should remain silent on foreign affairs, they have caused enough damage.
Way to go Arianna .Tehrany in Iran. These are the guy's who sang the Beach Boy's song. Now the want Obama to put his foot in it. Iranian's must save iran. Iraque'es must save iraq. We had a civil war here to stop one man treating another man as a slave. Blood was spilled because of loggerhead hard stupid leadership. Seven people in every family on average died in the civil war from both sides. John Brown's body is not just a song. More people died in the US civil war than any other battle in History.. We faught the Brits and every 4th of July we let everyone know. Americans saved America from within and without. Human rights is the best side to be on, Mousavi should let us know what side he is on.. My question always is who released the 17 British sailers. That might be the guy to talk to. For me Tony Blankly is a Mooney. Baiting the President to make a wrong decision for war and not peace exposed these people of how unpatriotic they truly are . Liberty and freedom is not about position and power. GREAT JOB ARIANNA . THANK'S FOR ALL THAT YOU DO . WE KNOW IT'S NOT EASY ON THE FRONT LINE..
I'm sorry I just don't get the feeling that we are in a seminal moment in Iran. In previous elections the regime has had no real problem in accepting whoever has been voted in, All the candidates in the recent election were vetted and approved to stand, all represent various competing factions of the political elite and none were planning any major change to the status quo, so why would the regime feel the need to fix the election this time around. Although the demonstrators on the streets of Tehran may not realise it, I suspect that they are being used by the losing side in an internal struggle between those differing factions of the political elite to try and snatch victory from from their electoral defeat, this may be why some elements of the civil authorities appear to be 'protecting' the demonstrators.
I think that the Grand Ayatollah and his advisors have now had time to sound out opinion throughout the country and have determined that this is an issue primarily confined to sections of Tehran, and so are saying enough is enough time to stop. I fear that if any demonstrators do march they will find that they have lost their political protection and have been hung out to dry.
Nicely done Arianna. Thank you for countering that blowhard political opportunist--the extremists on the right can spout all the stupidity and saber-rattling war mongering rhetoric they want--as long as we have rational intelligent voices like yours to drown them out.
MARCH ON ARIANNA!
Interesting how the GOP sees happenings anywhere in the world as Obama's fault. Tony was asked a question on the IRAN's situation and he quickly turned the discourse to Obama's foreign Policy fault and condemned the POTUS for not supporting the protesters - Apparently Tony have not heard the POTUS recently...
Here's my take on the GOP - all they do now is find anything possible to blame Obama, irrespective of whatever he does. If Obama comes out forcefully, the way Tony and co. wants, the same people will be out there condemning him for doing just that. If he doesn't, they will still blame him. If he does diplomatically, they will paint him as being weak and naive.... Nonetheless, Tony and Co. will not tell us what such "forceful" support will accomplish. All they said is that the people of IRAN will be inspired - Apparently yet again Tony and Co. have not been seeing what is going on in IRAN. The IRANIAN'S are inspired enough and does not require a speech from Obama to get any more inspired, than they are right now. It is truly disturbing that all the GOP do these days is use the old tried and failed strategy of Divide-and-Rule in all things - This is the 21st century and while that strategy may have worked mostly in the 20th Century, we need different approaches to the problems of the 21st century and this is what the GOP is yet to understand....
America this time should keep in tune with united nations. If necessary it should be united
nations to interfere not america alone.
neo cons want ahmadinejad in power, he and his big lying mouth is best lifeline for
neo cons. Thats why they want america to be involved cause that would better mobalize
radicals in iran.
Which is exactly why we should not take ANY advice from neo-cons. Never forget that their motives are to conquer the world. Any advice they give is aimed at lining up the dominoes properly.
I enjoy Left Right and Center, and enjoy Blankley. He usually seems reasonable even though I stand to the left of him. However, lately, I have been finding him out of touch and his rhetoric old and stale. To ignore our failed interventionist behavior in Iran and to encourage more of a US involvement is asinine. The revolutionist have said as much--they do not want to appear a puppet of the US. Blankley appears to be more critical of the current President than willing to see positive Middle East change happen on its own.
They are War-mongers, they will spend all the countries money on war,
The President tried to do something to stimulate this economy they left us with and they cry, They're going to leave a debt to our children and grandchildren. Where does the debt go to from all these wars. I guess that debt is just a figment of our imagination.
The neo-con prodding of the president to be more forceful is ironic, because his message in Cairo and other places may have contributed to making what is happening in Iran possible.
You mean his aplogy tour right? How quickly these neo-clown fools forget. Iran has been able to use our agression in order to keep their opressive regimes in power for decades. When have we not called them evil or terrorists since 1979? I can't recall in my lifetime hearing a president talk about normalizing relations with Iran and when Obama does look what happens. I believe Obama toning down his rhetoric on Iran has given the Iranians enough breathing room to do exactly what they're doing.
If any of the Republican candidates were the President we would be in trouble. We are already broke from 8 years of war, which is still going on. Our economy has failed, unemployment is up, our banks, the only manufacturing we have left has failed. Now these fools are trying to start another war we can't afford.
Dispose of the Republican Party, they are a total waste.

Well said, Thank You!
Excellent Nova16!
"they have caused enough damage" is an understatement.
Now, the trick is to keep them out of power. Forever!!
The Neo-Con will spend money on War and death but not on making a Health Care System that
works for everyone!!! I wish they would just SHUT-UP!!!!!
I second that.
I third that!

REPUBLIC LIKE WAR AND FEAR.
Yes, they do!
They are War-mongers, they will spend all the countries money on war,

Very Well Stated! I agree!

Good point, missed that!

If McCain was president the world will be in bad hand.
