Perhaps the most critical point is what's now versus what was yesterday. Now, there is Mr. Obama and the torch has been passed.
As much as I admire Mrs. Clinton, the poorly managed campaign and constant interference is a clear indicator of what is to come if Mr. Obama selected her as his VEEP: Enough confusion to detract the
any president from doing what the people hired him to do.
It really is time for a change. To all those women who have invoked an unflattering element of emotion into this process, please stop and consider how your actions diminish some of the gains we have made for equality with our male counterparts... What message is being conveyed to our daughters? The sophmoric, spoiled sport behavior is not professional, unbusinesslike and the worse kind of gamesmanship. The latter because I have a sense the Republicans continue to fan this fire of disunity amongst Democrats.) Get over it and let us all simply move on to end the Bush horror show.
Senator Obama's VP search need not go any further than . . . Caroline Kennedy. Think about it. She's very accomplished in her own right--a lawyer, philanthropist, author, sits on the boards of many charities and foundations, to name a few. Not to mention her pedigree.
Don't forget about the women's vote, Hillary's supporters, and upholding Camelot. If Caroline were on the ticket, we could forget about counting red and blue states--this would be a blowout, a landslide, maybe on the scale of a Roosevelt-type election.
Obama/Kennedy would be an unbeatable combination. Kind of makes you go, hmmm . . . .
"Some men see things as they are and say why. I see things that never were and say why not."
I think she is wonderful, but she is also extremely shy and shuns the limelight as much as she can. She came forth to support Obama, which means she strongly believes in his candidacy. But I don't think she would accept. She is, however, on the committe that is evaluating potential candidates for the vice presidency.
A wonderful private citizen with passionate core Dem values. But leave her alone. Her family has done more than its fair share. I think she must love being one of thefew Kennedys who actually has a quasi "normal" life.
I watched Arianna last night and anyone supportive of progressive ideas and no BS should be proud. Actually watching her on CNN and listening to her speech before the Commonwealth Club of California is what brought me here. So you guys can blame her for that.
To sincere Hillary supporters who would vote Republican over Democrat:
Would you rather Hillary have an important, powerful place in the next government, or would you rather Hillary be marginalized and invisible as an opposition member?
New question: would you rather see a divided party with real hostility carried forward and that hostility turned potentially to obstruction OR will you be adult enough to support a unity ticket which would almost immediately heal the breach and give ALL Dems at least something to be excited about?
I heard Bill Clinton campaign for Hillary just before the primary in my state. He spoke glowingly about Hillary for about 10 minutes, then spent 20 talking glowingly about his own presidential successes. As a former supporter, I was really disappointed and had an epiphany about some of the criticism he received from conservatives. With the enormity of the narcissistic injury he felt during the primary, he won't be climbing on board the Obama bandwagon wholeheartedly in the foreseeable future. He'd probably be more of a liability than an asset on the campaign trail. (Not that it would be a new phenomenon...)
At the end of the first video Tara says that McCain wouldn't appoint judges to overturn Roe v. Wade. Right on McCain's website it says "John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. "
Ms. Huffington's comment about Barack Obama being in charge of the Democratic party is correct. For the Illinois Senator's supporters, this is the change that they so fervently want to believe in. A careful examination of Mr. Obama's views on various issues, reveal the candidate's desire to embrace so many of the political myths he formally denounced. A recent interview in Fortune magazine exposed the fact that he is not really against the North America Free Trade Agreement, chalking up this misconception to "overheated rhetoric". Only yesterday, to prove I guess that he has strength, he came out in favor of the death penalty for child rape. An emotional boiler plate to be sure, but one that places in the camp of the most ardent judicial reactionaries.
Lady Arianna. Always carries herself with ease, grace and the knowledge that many political historians wish they had. She battles with the best of them.
The notion that Hillary is the "women's candidate" is another Clinton crock. No less than 8.5 million women voted for Obama, while a lot of Hillary's voters were white blue-collar racist males who voted for Hillary because she is WHITE.
There's an element of truth to what you are saying, although we can't put a specific number on it. People supported Senator Clinton for a variety of reasons, including division across racial lines. Our task now is to educate these people to put aside their fears and prejudices and vote for their own self-interest. Obama is the candidate for the working man and the middle class. His tax plan alone is reason enough to support him if you carry a lunch bucket to work everyday.
Arianna, I love you. You are one of the smartest and most persuasive people in politics today. BTW, my wife could be your twin sister (no kidding!). I want the world to know that I'm a happy guy! :-)
I love the huffpo it is the only news paper online I read - cnn stopped letting people post comments years ago - why? - well it is obvious now isn't it

Where or where do they get these Republican women, especially minority women?
To sincere Hillary supporters who would vote Republican over Democrat:
Would you rather Hillary have an important, powerful place in the next government, or would you rather Hillary be marginalized and invisible as an opposition member?
That's your choice. It really is that simple.
New question: would you rather see a divided party with real hostility carried forward and that hostility turned potentially to obstruction OR will you be adult enough to support a unity ticket which would almost immediately heal the breach and give ALL Dems at least something to be excited about?
Unity party please define? Adult-does that mean Vp for Hillary? She brings as much negative as positive to the the ticket. Lets be adults.
