Arianna appeared on CNN's "Parker Spitzer" Tuesday night to discuss the passing of Elizabeth Edwards, and to reflect on Edwards' inner strength and broader legacy.

"She was a woman who suffered multiple setbacks with so much grace," Arianna told cohost Eliot Spitzer. "My other thought as we heard the news was, 'How good that he was there at her bedside,' because they had shared 33 years of marriage and shared so much, and how important that there was a reconciliation at the end, as it appears to those of us looking in from the outside there was."

I am so sad for her family; especially her children. I have to believe that after 35+ years together, John Edwards loves Elizabeth deeply. Sure, he did a terrible, terrible thing and humiliated her beyond comprehension but that doesn't make him an evil person. Elizabeth always spoke highly of him as a father and I sincerely hope that he will raise those children to know and completely understand that their mother was a queen among mere mortals. R.I.P. Elizabeth.

If it weren't for Elizabeth we never would have heard of the guy she married.
Her legacy will be her love, vision, tenacity and above all..her wonderful children.

I was picking up my daughters from school when I heard of Mrs. Edwards passing and I stopped my car and cried for a while. My hearts go out to her kids and my paryers are with them.

I met Elizabeth & John on Valentine's Day at dinner in Los Angeles, during his Presidential campaign. She invited my husband and I to join them at their table. We were surrounded by security, but you would have never known it, Elizabeth was poised, calm, kind, gracious and just beautiful. I knew of her tireless work for numerous organizations and I was awestruck by her pure compassion for Life. We both shared a common secret and we laughed and hugged each other when the secret was revealed. At nights end, we waited for our cars together and it was then that she turned and looked at me from the rear window of their entourage and she waved and smiled at me until their car could no longer be seen. I thought to myself "What a wonderful lady." and I still hold those sweet sentiments tonight. Dear Elizabeth will be joined with her son Wade and her family in heaven. Her memory and hard work will be forever cherished.... God speed.

Smart, beautiful, empathetic and courageous....she should have been the one running for office. I will never understand why in politics, she stood in her husband's shadow.

God speed Elizabeth. She was a brilliant woman with a beautiful heart. She lived her life completely in grace. Her voice was always perfect. She just got it, through her organic connection to the universal of all of us. She was amazing.

When Elizabeth spoke, people listened. There aren't many men or women who can command the same kind of attention. She was beloved by many. So beloved she became known only by her first name.
Her first name said it all. Rest peacefully, Dear Elizabeth.

I agree with Arianna, no good can come from bitterness now, for better or worse, the children need their father more than ever and he needs them. I'm sure Elizabeth would want them all to be as happy a family as they can be at this point.

Elizabeth was very easy to identify with. Today at my office, women of all age groups and backgrounds expressed sadness over yesterday's news in the reported downward turn of her health, some admitted to having shed tears. I am feeling incredibly sad.
