Arianna on Live with Dan Abrams with Cliff May discussing aggressive White House moves regarding the possible attempted cover-up of the destruction of CIA interrogation tapes.
I have been a virtual pacifist for most of my adult life. Listening to Cliff May and blowhards like him however, is causing me to seriously to consider the use of violence. There are way too many people in this country sitting idly by while flamethrowers like this guy spew the most illogical, unconstitutional, hare-brained BS. I just don't see how an uniformed, uncaring electorate is ever going to stop these greedy bastards. I want the torture to end, I want the Iraq war to end, and yet I fear Blackwater coming home to do the bidding of this out of control corporate/facist cabal. I really fear its getting late for this country and the lives we thought we might have.

Iraq has receded. Democrats get nothing accomplished. Republicans suck. Talking heads blah, blah, blah over the same crap, and nothing changes. Let's face it: if a Democrat wins and there is an increased Democratic majority come Jan. '09, then, maybe, we'll see something to talk about. Now? I feel like I live in the former Soviet Union. The Big Lie rules, and there's a creeping acceptance of it. "The People" do nothing, they feel powerless, the Democrats do nothing, they feel powerless, and yet, when will, for example, invading the wrong country based on lies be viewed as a good thing? Is it now? In 10 years? 20? When will barring science from public policy make sense? 50 years from now? When will the callous, tragic lack of an appropriate response to Katrina be seen as anything other than the cluster fuck it was, and still is? When will giving massive tax breaks to the rich and to corporations during wartime for the first time in our nation's history ever be justified as anything other than the immoral farce it is? When will all the lies that sit just below the tip of the Scooter Libby iceberg see the light of day, and the criminals involved be held accountable? Are you holding your breath? Well, don't. You're turning blue. Has there been a sadder time, with a more corrupt government and a congress of greater cowards in the history of the nation? Even Mark Twain would be out of jokes and ready to move to France.

Cliff May suggests at the end that Congress could take a vote and thereby cause waterboarding to not be torture. It's being treated as a matter of opinion or political persuasion. You can't let them control the debate like that.

Very simple legal precedent, which any "lawyer" should be able to research.
At the end of WWII, we tried and convicted Japanese interrogators for water-boarding. We sent them to prison. Are we planning now to exonerate them?
It sickens me that people who are supposedly leading our country are hemming and hawing on this issue. Or worse, saying, "If it makes our country safer..." That is the first step on the Road to Hell.
And Ariana, let me agree with others here, that it is such a refreshing change to see how you remain a lady in the midst of these typical media shouting matches, and you never lose focus. You speak clearly and to the point. I can remember a day when that was the norm, not the exception in political discourse.

Folks watch and learn. Please............... pretty please.
Why is that so hard? It isn't. You don't let the cons change the subject.
Dems try too hard to be nice and always end up losing.
Thanks Dan! And Arianna.
Abrams + Rachel Maddow = media gold
He makes everything he's involved in a shouting farce.
