Arianna joined ABC's This Week Roundtable today, along with George Will, Donna Brazile, and Nicolle Wallace, hosted by George Stephanopoulos. The spirited discussion covered the surge in momentum for passing health care reform; President Obama's upcoming decision on whether to send up to 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan; and the calls for Democratic Congressman Charles Rangel to resign his chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee, a key tax-writing body, for multiple tax violations.
Arianna said Rangel should step down on Monday. She discussed Rangel in her recent blog post.

Arianna Huffington: Sunday Roundup
This week, a day after Democrats voted down an attempt to remove scandal-plagued Ways and Means Committee chairman Charlie Rangel from his post, the House Ethics Committee voted unanimously to expand its investigation of him. Nancy Pelosi, who promised to "drain the swamp" and create "the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history," is, instead, sticking by Rangel. Talk about tone deaf. The Democrats have to make it clear to America's beleaguered middle class that they don't believe there are two sets of rules: one for the power players of Wall Street and Washington, and one for everybody else. Congress' approval rating is at 21 percent, a 10 point drop over the last month. If the Democrats want to see it hit single digits, by all means, keep Charlie Rangel as chairman. Thank you Ariana for your articulate debate. Your message resonates with me and the concerns I have with the current administration and congress
Bush should have been impeached. Rumsfeld was worse than Rangle, got billions off the Vaccines that the Soldiers are forced to take (oh yes and he WAS out of the room when the underlings voted on it) and Cheney for shooting that person in the face, and Colin Powell for lying to the UN. about WMD.....
..Face it and acknowledge it...TEMPT ATION WORKS,,, the difference is in the kickbacks and payoffs... ;Think about the 8 billion dollars in IRAQ that just EVAPORATED and you know it is in the SWISS BANKS....
Get real... it is not like he did not pay his payroll taxes like GEITHNER..
Schatsie, that was then this is NOW. The Rangal is an albatross to his own party.
I would have to agree with this.

They should be held to the same standards as non-politicians.
He should especially be removed from the committee he is on.
And...made to pay penalties on all the money he cheated about.
After all, some people that have pulled this have had their homes and furnishings sold out from under them.
He shouldn't have any special privileges because he is a Politician.
(cheating one at that.)
I would like to see all the IRS statements that Congress and other politicians turn in. Too bad there isn't a more fair way to pay taxes.
Too many breaks and loop holes for a lot of people.
Thank you Arianna,
Great show and as usual, you nailed it.
The IRS needs to conduct an audit on Mr. Rangel as they would any other citizen and let the chips fall as they may. Any politician that is gaming the system they helped create should be indentified immediately regardless of party and dealt with to the fullest extent of the law, non partisan.
This issue is raw as it pertains Rangel’s tax filings with the strong possibility of taxes going up for most Americans. This is being viewed through a microscope by way of this very reason and to defer it would be IMO a disaster.

Not paying your taxes is so unpatrioti c... Anyone caught doing it that we have elected should be
booted to the curb, Immediately.
like all the Corporation who can pay lawyers to fight the IRS for year and still save money on taxes ?
It's one thing to use the courts as a means to try to get what they think may be more fair treatment from the IRS.
It is quite another to not say a thing at all and hope no one finds out!
A little late. no? This has been going on for months. Looks like you can only ignore things for so long.
You know why just start with Rangel. Compared to the entire Bush Administration he is a chore boy.
lots of politicians on both sides think they are above the law. Did I mention term limits?
I fann you. You are correct, in fact 100percent right on. Why, not go thru the whole crew I am sure we would run to the border at what they will fine.
Arianna is wrong about this. The public is not paying as much attention to Charlie Rangel as the pundits and the media is.
The GOP always rally around their fallen fellow colleagues but the minute the Democrats make a mistake they want to hang them out to dry.
Oh! CarmelApple, you have hit the nail in the right spot. The pot talking about the kettle and both at times have been hard to use. Get the timber out your own eye before you try to remove the log out of someone elses, and you know they want their seats they lost and so they will run this Rangel issue in the mud.
Way to go Arianna, she also believes in cleaning the swamp.
I notice that only the postive post about what was said Sunday onThis Week is premitted here, I believe Ranger should wait to make his discussion after the investigation. You dont sentence someone before the trial
coot, is suppose to be that way but when it comes to the other party they love to show you your dirty laundry but when it's them they bring King David in.
Let's get them all to resign! Ensign, Vitter, Stanford and others. Why only the Democrats should step down?
SAY THAT 1088, I fann you.
And I might add to my last comment that the Republicans and the Democrats taking money from the lobbyist need to be called out and sent home. They are killing the idea of representative government and causing the American people get pain and hardship.
Kudo's to you!
Well there are plenty of other people in Washington who need to go besides this guy.
send them all packing repub and dem alike. NO MORE CORRUPTION !
We the people need to hurry and voice that immediatly, I think your 100 percent correct. This is not to let Rangel or anyone else who has done wrong off the hook but if we are going to clean house the democrats should say lets do it all the way round this congress. Also, I don't know if what they state is the truth so we need to see what they find about Congressman Rangel at this time i have only heard bits and pieces.
Well...wel l..the TRUE COLORS finally shine thru. This man has NOT been convicted of anything,. ..yet! I am disgusted that ANYONE would try and convict this quick! I sense something growing in the wind .......and it smells like...... like....po litics as usual....I f this kind of "kick em when they are down" mentality keeps on....but. .thats the way it is on the Dem side ..they are NOT LOYAL!! THEY EAT THEIR OWN.... does not matter what you HAVE DONE for your Country or your party! It kinda reminds me of what I learned in Arkansas politics.. ...a kind of watch ya back ....gotcha political style. people like this! this party is a hairs breath of complete obscurity ..........
frankly ...all I really see these days ...is a kind of slow walk to the gallows ....for the Dem's..
You can do what you will....I will NOT support ANYONE that convicts..
It would seem its more about what they should be doing for the people who put them in office! not about lining their own pockets. And that applies to all members of congress.
How about who is creating big problems ?
