HuffPost's Editor, Roy Sekoff, went on the Ed Show to discuss the new recruitment ad put out by Liz Cheney's group, Keep America Safe. The ad includes a clip of Sekoff and Ed Schultz discussing Liz Cheney, and asks, "What are they so afraid of?" After asking Ed if he thought they'd be getting residuals, Sekoff said that he actually was afraid of Cheney and her ilk. "I'm afraid because I remember the last 8 years. I remember how they alienated our allies, emboldened our enemies, and made the country and the world less safe." Sekoff and Schultz also discussed the underlying agenda of Keep America Safe, trying to cow President Obama into sending more troops into Afghanistan. "These are the same neocons who told us to forget about Afghanistan, that we needed to invade Iraq because it was the central front in the war on terror," said Sekoff. "Now they tell us Afghanistan is the central front" even though there are only 100 Al Qaeda left there.

Disingenuous is one of the nicer words that come to mind to describe the hypocrisy of L.Cheyney's ad asking why "they" won't address the issues or engage in serious debate, considering she's avoiding doing exactly that.

Is Pa Cheney pulling her strings behind the scenes? The sudden overexposure of this woman, who's only claim to fame is her father makes one wonder why she's even saying anything.

The fear of the fundamentalists, neocons and white supremacists translated into successive electoral routs.
The use of fear and fear tactics to cover up the real agenda of the PNAC crowd is the crowning achievement of cheney and bush. 9/11, the gift that propped up bush's then shaky rule and kept on giving until we threw the bums out. go away ms cheney or at least grow a large enough pair to debate rachel maddow. apologies to coulter.

This is why MSNBC is in last place, they don't have an ounce of originality or dignity . Let's see, just because FOX is having a feud with Obamas PROPAGANDA MACHINE and getting better ratings, here they go imitating and trying to get a feud of their own. LMAO

I suppose just concentrating on getting the best possible news and doing substantial and intelligence analysis, cutting out the fluff and maybe throttling back the graphics would just be too revolutionary for them. CNN used to do the equivalent of the BBC -- lots of footage and interviewing. Now all the networks just interview their in house people for analaysis instead of bringing on more guests and running newsworthy news. Nah, instead they gotta do "Making a difference and making viewers happy with fluff."

Of course people are switching off the TV and logging on the internet. What's on TV is an insult to intelligent life, so yes, the underclass loves the hysteria that is FOX, and the rest are bailing out for real news online.

It's their own fault.

The sad loss is that all the networks have morphed into punditry and away from the news itself and the traditional activities that illuminate what is happening. Things like journalism, investigative reporting, and story unbiased analysis have been replaced.

Investigative reporting has been replaced by copters and their endless aerial footage of explosions, chases, and fires. Journalism and investigative reporting have been replaced wholly by pundit "opinions."

Networks should separate the punditry from news channels, and at the same time invest in investigative and field reporting personnel instead of more aerial footage and choppers to hover over our heads.

I must tell you that I am center right, I don't know what that makes me in today's long list of political views, but I will tell you that the job of any journalist is to be OBJECTIVE and not SUBJECTIVE unless they are in a editorial format. And I am guessing that most of this stations haven't figure this out. But I think the propaganda machine has picked up lots of tips from other leaders around the world that have absolute control over the media and they are trying to implement that here.

FOX may be getting higher ratings; but the real question is . . . why are their ratings high? The ratings are high because of hate mongering, which says a lot about our country.

The #1 seller for ratings are SEX and RACISM. Fox is leading the pack . . . . America should be proud . . . NOT!

This country was settled (o.k., stolen) by people who were NOT AFRAID. So where did all this FEAR come from? Americans used to be courageous, even intrepid. Now they are weak, fearful, and insipid. People like Liz Cheney appeal to the worst elements in human beings: fear, ignorance, and intolerance. Her father is a coward and a bully and he spends his time hiding from the truth. No fear, no Republicans, and no Cheneys.

It's not fear. It's a restrained, healthy, cultivated, focused, motivated and highly intelligent anger. Fear is passive and useless, this type of rational anger is the perfect opposite.

Liz Cheney is all talk: you can go over transcripts of her TV interviews with a divining rod and not find a word of truth. I'd love to see Rachel Maddow interview her: she wouldn't get the pass virtually everyone else gives her.

Great idea, give her a full hour with Rachel. Liz would probably have to leave the stage.

Rachel Maddow has asked Cheney to come on her show and debate, but her "people" don't even respond....so some things never change...just ignore the people who have different opinions than your own....it must be the GOP mantra!

The number of replys relate directly to the relevance of the remarks-out of site ,out of mind, if you can't say something constructive, don't say anything at all. I could repeat more of these that I have heard all my life and they would all apply.

You can only scare the country and pillage it once the American people will not fall for it again ever history is still judging the Bush Administration and by the looks of all the mis deeds that are being published on these war criminals the jury is still out! The only fear America needs is electing any of the Bush Administration and giving them any power at all.

I thought that too, but then Bush was re-elected. I don't underestimate anything anymore. So much was done during the Bush years as we stood by and let it happen, and some even cheered it on. When I first heard Bush/Cheney talk of going to war with Iraq (days after 9/11, but also after the knew it was bin Laden and not Saddam who attached us) I thought the country would never stand for that. Guess who was wrong? After that I have come to realize that we have a short memory and attention span and are easily manipulated. We should never let our guard down again.
