Nico Pitney, the National editor of HuffPost, has been covering the Iranian presidential election and the subsequent turmoil on his live-blog. He was a guest on "The Rachel Maddow Show" tonight to discuss his coverage. From MSNBC's website: "MSNBC's Rachel Maddow talks with Nico Pitney, national editor for the Huffington Post who has been tirelessly liveblogging the protests in Iran. Pitney shares insights on where he gets information and how he assesses what he finds."
You can follow Nico's ongoing coverage here. Watch his appearance with Maddow below.

I used to think twitter was stupid and useless. This whole think has changed by viewpoint. I also agree this man should get some kind of award/recognition for his work.
dont worry, he will. i know about the news business, but i cant imagine he wont get a pulitzer.
boy, even though twitter has not made money, the owners have called fools for not selling at a price of hundreds of millions, but i think that price tag is now even higher.
Good on, Nico - and you, too, Rachel for having him as your guest, and the very to-the-point questions you asked!
Would you believe, there are people on Nico's thread claiming all the tweet posts are made up??? I referred them to Rachel's interview, because Nico specifically discussed how he corroborated his posts. Of course I don't many paid attention ....
Add me to the Nico fans. Great job. Thanks for keeping us in the loop during this difficult time.
I'll keep on stating my love for Nico..!
WItness the changing of the guard.
Mr. Pitney is showing the love he has for his profession and that is beneficial to the people and to Mr. Pitney. I watched the interview and came away feeling good about the world we live in today. There are some bright stars in this night sky.
Keep up the excellent work Mr. Pitney and all the other fine people of Huffington Post. The presentation of the news never looked better.
Rachel is the best that MSNBC has to offer. I don't agree with her often, but she invites on guests from not only the front lines of major issues, but of opposing viewpoints. I don't believe I have ever seen any moderation from the extreme far left on Countdown, very little on Hardball. She comes accross as somebody who cares about what she is reporting. I can disagree with her viewpoint but say she is fair and honest.
Nico's aces. It's been inspiring and heart breaking to follow this.
No matter what the outcome of the next few days in Iran, the Genie is out of the bottle in Iran and the people of the country will continue to press for changes. 20 years ago - as with the Chinese in Tienneman Square - the government could have hidden this and gotten away with it. Today, the citizen journalist will not be kept down (Time Magazine please note: My vote for person of the Year 2009 is the citizen journalist) for all of the drawbacks to having our reporting coming from people who are in the middle of the news stories, we can't avoid the truth that without the tools of web 2.0 and the young people who are using those tools to bring the uprising to us, we would all be in the dark. The fact that the state department asked Twitter to delay maintenance work on the website speaks volumes for its value.
President Obama has handled the crisis brilliantly. Stand up for democracy and human rights - stand down on the personalities and the specifics of the uprising, lest they be tarred as puppets of the west. It's really political science 101 though some pretty high ranking US political leaders seem to have been out drinking during that class (take note Sen McCain and Rep Pence).
Thanks NIco, I agree with others your non-stop information has allowed us to join in the amazing history that is happening in Iran.
Thanks NICO- It was hard to watch a man die and people scream but that is the truth not the gloss cover some people want. Thanks for the facts- Admiration for your efforts and long hours
Outstanding job Nico! Thanks for your persistence in covering this historical moment.
I watched Rachel last night. If there was a kind of "emmy' for internet reporting then this is the man who should win it. His research, the help of Farcey (spelling) speaking assistants, the time lines, the videos are all great. Every time I've logged on he has kept me (and many others) updated. He is great - and I sincerely thank him for his work.
I appreciate all the good work Nico has been putting in over the last several days to report what is actually transpiring in Iran as it is transpiring. Investigative reporting as it used to be and as it should be. Major kudos for a bang-up job.
Keep on keepin' on!
long way from "one if by land, two if by sea" isn't it? History will need a more dignified term than "tweet" I'm afraid to describe the anti-plutocratic power at work in this event
