I fear a severe crackdown but the world will be watching if another Tiananmen Square massacre happens...it will not be so quietly accepted this time around!
The Iranians are saying "we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore".
When it comes to the corporate state, we're not quite there yet.
thanks Nico.. i feel so connected to the rally
You are our hero Nico a warrior in an ancient land whose weapon is a mouse. How fantastic.
Keep up the good work Nico!
You're appreciated and admired.
someone please help me out with my confusion here.......
the insane disregard for human rights going on in iran is horrible.
BUT, who the heck is surprised? I mean, wtf? Maybe I'm missing something here, or just jaded, but who the heck thought that it was going to be a fair election? Is it the degree of cheating that is bothering people? I don't get it, honestly. I mean, go for it, try to kick some ass over there and initiate change and democracy, but what is the bottom line issue? Iran is mean to its people and is not a democracy. Wow. didn't see that coming.
It isn't as black & white as you put it. The following is one the best clips I have heard that gives an overall picture of what has taken place on and puts in proper perspective:

Not everybody accepts the status quo. The Iranian government may be "mean" to its people, but that's not to say the people are - or ever were - happy about it. When there is little prospect of change, people often just accept their lot and try to get on with things as best they can. But why would it surprise you that people living in an oppressive society might actually want something better? "Something better" does not necessarily mean a US style democracy and market economy. It might just mean a desire for *legitimate* political representation or just freedom from the arbitrary interferance (eg violence, torture, harrassment, etc.) of the state.
This uprising is probably occuring - at this point in time - because a dodgy election can work as a flashpoint or trigger for the mass expression of disatisfaction. Elections raise hopes for change and, in this case, that hope has been dashed for many.
"thought that it would be a fair election"? Do you mean the US or Iran? Is THIS a well functioning democracy with an unbiased media reporting facts to its citizens, or a corrupt plutocracy squeezing the life out of many for the benefit of an absurdly wealthy few?
How cool !
